Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.

Reason for being in rescue: found as a stray, microchipped and chip is registered
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Papa Bear is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Papa Bear was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Our best guess is that he is a miniature poodle / terrier mix, but only a DNA test. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic. He does shed.
Weight: 24 lbs
Height: 16 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $349
Fence needed? Yes, Papa Bear requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. This boy LOVES to run!
What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Papa Bear, a little dog with big energy! Papa Bear is a playful, energetic little guy looking for an active home that can keep up with his boundless enthusiasm. He came to us as a stray and is hoping to find adopters who can match his energy levels. His ideal home would be with people who are home most of the day, ready to play, train, and keep him engaged.
He’d be a great fit for a single adopter, a couple, or an active family. Papa Bear would love to join you on hikes, beach trips, daily walks, and trips to the dog park. He’s always up for an adventure and hopes every outing ends with a pup cup (though once a week is just fine, too!).
Papa Bear would do best as the only dog in the household, as he can be a bit dominant with smaller dogs if left unsupervised. However, he’d do well with a larger, confident dog who can match his energy. A fenced-in yard is a must for him to run, play, and burn off some of that extra energy safely. Sadly, no cats.
What is my personality like? Papa Bear is energetic, playful, and full of love. He is still learning his leash manners and knows a little bit of the “sit” command. His new family will need to dedicate some time to leash training and reinforcing basic commands. He’s a smart pup who thrives on praise, love, and treats, so he’ll be ready to learn everything you want to teach him!
If you lead an active lifestyle and are looking for a fun, energetic companion, Papa Bear might just be the perfect fit for you. He’s wound up and ready to go!
How do I act when I first meet new people? “Hi! Wanna Play!” Papa Bear is always ready for fun and will eagerly greet new people with excitement.
Other tips and tidbits: Papa Bear was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on him. Our estimated based on his health and condition is 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday 3/2/2023.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
