Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.

What kind of home would be best for me? This sweet girl is the epitome of a poodle princess. She loves a good romp in the yard but is also just as happy being at her guardian's feet watching TV or eating dinner. Nikki would thrive in a single-family home with a fenced yard where she can safely play after exhausting you with her energy. She enjoys the company of other dogs but could go it alone also if the right person and the right schedule found her. She wants to be with her people.
Nikki doesn’t have a preference for her adopter’s relationship status—whether you’re single, a couple, or a family, she’s happy as long as you lead an active lifestyle. However, she does have one big request - Nikki loves men. She is currently very attached to her foster dad, and we think would love to have a human male companion. She's not averse to women. She is happy in her foster mom's company but if foster mom is upstairs and foster dad is downstairs, you'll find Nikki downstairs with him.
Nikki loves people. She would do best with an adopter who is home most, if not all, of the day to play with her and help teach her. We've not seen Nikki around any children. If a family were to apply for her, we recommend her home have children not under 12 years old. She is very active and may be too much for toddlers. The only problem with Nikki with kids is we think she is going to prefer the adults in the home.
What is my personality like? Say hello to darling Nikki, a gorgeous young black poodle who’s extremely playful and good-natured. She was surrendered to us by a breeder, but it was a very small, home-based operation. A family member tried to take Nikki home as her own, but life got in the way and Nikki came to the poodle farm. She has adjusted well and is living life to the fullest.
Nikki is a happy, young girl who enjoys every day to the fullest. She happily co-exists with other dogs, especially larger ones, but unfortunately, cats are not her friends. She has been a little rough with the smaller dogs in her foster home so we think no dogs under 20 lbs as friends. Yes she can be around smaller dogs and is all the time, but her foster parents are savvy and now when to step in quickly with a redirection and a treat for good behavior.
The only thing Nikki loves more than playing is treats! She suggests you always have some safely tucked away in your pocket or purse. Nikki has a serious sweet tooth and a healthy appetite—after all, she’s still growing!
Nikki walks well on a leash although she does pull a bit but that will correct with practice. She knows her cues, especially when treats are involved—she’s quick to sit for one! A little more training on all cues and leash skills will help Nikki become even more confident and strengthen the bond between you. Just don’t forget the treats! We think Nikki would love a basic obedience course.
If you're looking for a lovable and active canine companion to join you on all your adventures and fill your life with fun, play, and happiness, Nikki is the perfect match for you.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Nikki adores people and has never met a stranger. She believes everyone she meets is there to be her playmate. However, she does seem to prefer men over women.
Other tips and tidbits: Nikki was born on 10/17/2023. We took Nikki out to the ball game! Specifically, her foster guardians took her to their grandkid's baseball game. She enjoyed it. She was the only dog with several hundred people and children and several people commented on how well behaved she was. She then went to Lowe's and helped shop for plants. On both trips, she did great. We were proud of her.
House trained? Nikki has been house trained with her foster guardians. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
