Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.

Fence needed? Yes, Ford is a big, energetic young boy who will need a yard with a fence that is at least 4 feet tall.
What kind of home would be best for me? Ford will thrive in a home with an adopter who leads an active lifestyle and can provide plenty of playtime. He’s not picky about the type of home—whether single, a couple, or a family—but he does love playing with children. He can be quite jumpy, so we recommend that any children in the home be at least 10 years old.
Ford gets along well with other large dogs and would benefit from having a canine companion in his new home. Another dog would not only be a playmate for him but could also mentor him on how to behave in a home setting. If you don't have another dog, you need a plan for regular play and socialization for Ford. A fenced yard is a must, so he has a safe space to burn off his excess energy. He enjoys the company of other big dogs and should do well with smaller dogs. However, due to his high energy, he might be too active for cats.
What is my personality like? Ford came to us as a breeder release, and unlike many dogs in his situation, he is happy, playful, and full of energy. Ford is extremely energetic and playful.
As a young guy with a breeder background, there are still things that might be new or unsettling for him. He doesn’t do well with stairs, though he has made significant progress since being with us. He walks well on a leash, though some refresher training wouldn’t hurt. He knows the "sit" command, but we’re still working on other basic commands. Ford is a smart boy, and with treats and praise, he will quickly learn everything you want to teach him. The time you spend training him and going on walks will help build his confidence and create a strong bond between you.
If you have the time, energy, patience, and love to give this active boy, Ford will become your obsession and develop into your loyal canine BFF.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Ford is always excited to meet new people—he sees them as potential playmates! He’s very friendly and loves children.
Other tips and tidbits: Ford's estimated birthday is 03/30/2022.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
