Not too big, not too small, our buddy Barney is a fabulous choice for anyone looking for a long-time lap partner. A Labrador Retriever mix with a shimmering short black coat; he is 8 months old and currently weighs 38 pounds. He is expected to be a medium size pooch (under 60 pounds) at maturity.
Barney is a medium energy guy learning every day. He came from a situation in which he did not receive much human attention and therefore he is a shy fellow. Barney is cautious with meeting strangers, and he will need space and time to find his comfort level. His family will need to exhibit patience with him as he learns his new role in a loving family. He is good with children and other dogs. He might benefit from a confident resident canine to help him adjust and follow a confident lead and have a playtime buddy as well. All house, crate and leash training are works in progress. His attitude regarding felines is unknown.
He enjoys going for walks and is gradually making progress with learning the world around him. Continued exposure to walks will help him adapt a bit quicker and become more relaxed. He really enjoys playing fetch and what better way to enjoy time with your new family member then passing the time with his favorite game. If you are looking for a car buddy, Barney is your boy as he enjoys going on car rides. He is ready to go whenever you are.
Barney is looking for a wonderful home where exercise, training, commitment and affection are in abundance. So… if you are searching for a canine companion who is not huge, not tiny, but just right, he just might be the one for you!
*When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability.
The adoption fee for Barney is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue, and transport fees.
