    Date into Rescue: 4/19/2025
Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Cullen is neutered, up to date on vaccine and heartworm negative
Weight: 65 lbs and is a good weight now.  He may get a bit taller but his weight should not go up
Height: 25 in at the shoulder (est) and may get 1/4" taller maybe, he's big and bold and just beautiful
    Spayed/Neutered: Yes

    Adoption Fee: $699

Fence needed? Yes. Cullen loves to run and romp. Leash walking alone is not enough for a young, large dog who is built for action

What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a home that wants to benefit from a dog who has all the advantages growing up. His owner has done "all the things" for this young man. Cullen's new home will be one that can offer him a lifetime of love. He's been bounced once already in his short life.  It was for his benefit, but it is still sad. We are hoping to make it so that never happens again.

Physically, for Cullen we are looking for a larger home with a large fenced in yard.  Another dog in the home would be great but is not a necessity. Cullen can go either way. Cullen would prefer someone home part or all of the time. Poodles are gregarious partner dogs so the idea of being alone all the time is not something he likes to think about it. Please note, we've not yet tested Cullen with cats

Cullen could go to a first-time dog owner who is committed to lots of walks and hikes and taking Cullen to all the places. Cullen would like to go to restaurants and to festivals.  He would like someone who wants to introduce him to all the dog friendly relatives. He also wants someone who will take this boundless intelligence and shape and mold it. We can see him in basic obedience and then doing something fun like barn hunt or fast cat.  Cullen would also make a great therapy dog. He needs to learn a few skills first but once he did, that cookie dough coat and his big, lazy grin will bring so much joy to the people he is visiting.

What is my personality like? Big, bold and beautiful. Cullen is sweet, social and thinks both dogs and people are all wonderful. He has been wonderfully house trained with us and is also comfortable and content in his crate when that is needed.  Cullen has been well loved. His owner was given a job opportunity she could not turn down, but she knew her new duties and responsibilities (and the extra hours that come with that) meant giving Cullen up so he could find a better life.

Cullen is LARGE.  We can't emphasize that enough. He's stunning but he is a lot of dog. Please be aware that his size is a bit part of his personality. He is a gentle giant, a sweet goofball teddy bear of a dog but he's big. He needs room - room to romp, room to turn and room to sprawl. If you can give him that and love, he'll happily hand you his heart.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Cullen said "You are friends I don't know yet.  Let's become BFF's today over a long walk and a snuggle session."  Cullen thinks all humans are simply cool.

Other tips and tidbits: Cullen's birthday is 4/28/2024.

Cullen is now ON RESERVE through Thursday 5/17/25. When a dog is listed as "on reserve" this means an approved adopter has scheduled an appointment for the current week. While our adopter is not obligated to take the reserved dog home if the meet and greet is not successful. It does mean we are committed to not showing anyone else to that dog until the meet and greet is held. We do not hold dogs but, since most of our adopters come from over 2 hours one way drive, we are considerate of their time invested, hence our limited reserve policy. If Cullen's profile is removed from our available dogs page on Thursday, you'll know he's in his happy home. Look for a happy tails photo on our Facebook page on Monday. If the words "on reserve" are removed, you'll know that another lucky dog found a home and Cullen is still waiting to meet the adopter of his dreams.

House trained? Cullen so far has been great with us.  He still squats to pee.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
