Fig | 1-year-old Border Collie/Husky | 37 lbs of Curious, Prancing Puppy Joy

Fig is an affectionate, playful 37 pound, one-year-old Border Collie/Husky mix who loves everyone he meets—dogs, kids (10+), and new people alike. He’s always up for a game of fetch, a good walk, or a car ride. When he’s had his exercise (around 45–60 minutes a day), he’s content to curl up and relax with his humans.

He’s also quite the character—he prances around when he’s excited, takes treats gently, and is eager to please. He loves praise and affection and is steadily gaining confidence in his foster home.

Training & House Manners
Fig is almost fully house-trained. He previously used training pads, so rugs were a little confusing at first, but with consistency and a potty schedule, he’s doing great—no accidents by day 3! He’ll stand by the door when he needs to go out and is learning to use the doggie door on his own.

Fig already knows basic commands like sit, come, off, and no, and he’s working hard on learning not to jump up when greeting people. He’s about halfway there and improving every day.

Activity Needs
As a Border Collie/Husky mix, Fig has a high energy level and will thrive with daily exercise and mental stimulation. He loves to fetch balls and sticks, chew bones, and go on long walks.

Ideal Home - Fig will do best in a home with:

A house with a decent-sized fenced yard to run and play

An active person or family ready to give him plenty of exercise

Another dog buddy would be a huge plus

A household where he won’t be left alone all day (not suited for long hours in a kennel)

Owners ready to keep up with training and provide the structure he needs

If you’re looking for a smart, sweet, and active companion who will reward you with endless love, Fig is ready to find his forever home.

Ready to meet this lovable pup? Apply today and see if Fig is the missing piece in your family!

If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.

The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.

Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.

PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/

Our adoption process is:

1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.

2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
