Gracie is a deaf eight year old white and blue pit bull girl. She's been with us since six months of age. She's the dog who has been with us the longest. She's also the happiest and most well adjusted dog in our kennel.

Grace came from a Sacto area kill shelter and went directly into a foster home. Her best buddy was the foster's young male deaf dog. Her reward for being a playful and friendly puppy-girl was to be attacked by their older untrained pit bull who was the "fun police". She was also attacked whenever she sought attention from the people in the house. Nobody ever corrected the older dog.

As a result, Gracie is pretty dog picky. Can you blame her? She is fine with her neighbors in the kennel, and ignores them. She's not always fine with other dogs face to face. She tends to do "I'll get you first", which is a product of fear.

Okay, so now the *SUPER GOOD* stuff about Gracie and why you might want her in your life! She's extremely smart, affectionate, and has graduated from our Basic and Intermediate Obedience group classes. She even passed her Canine Good Citizen test! She's potty trained, doesn't chew stuff up, isn't a crazy puppy. She's an extremely calm dog who will walk right into your house and know exactly what to do. She's a "heart dog" who can't seem to find her person. She will bond very heavily with you, and you'll be her world. If you haven't experienced the special love of a deaf dog, you're seriously missing out.

She never has a bad day here. She's low maintenance, never a complaint. She's grateful for every minute spent with her, and she's really well behaved. She doesn't require a lot of activity or exercise. A cushy bed and a loving guardian with a nice yard is all she requires. She's in the prime of her life and has many years left.

We're committed to giving our dogs a forever place to live here if they kennel well and don't get adopted. But Gracie is SO GOOD. Why is she still sitting here? Its just SAD. She deserves better than a kennel. She deserves a home with someone who will cherish her. They all do, but Gracie is really special. She will forever be one of our favorites here.

If you don't have other pets, and would like to meet the Amazing Grace, please complete our adoption application: www.deafdogrescueofamerica.org/adoption-application.html

Please note that we are unable to respond to inquiries, emails or phone calls. Our adoption process starts with completion/submission of an application for adoption. All applications are reviewed as quickly as we can, and our adoption process is not first come, first served. We select our adoptive homes according to what our dogs/puppies require. If you are selected as an appropriate match, you will be contacted to set an appointment to visit the Ranch and meet Gracie.
