Old dogs are as good as gold, and this good girl certainly is! After being a beloved companion for many years, her owner passed away recently. Now, Brenna is hoping to find love again and is looking for a peaceful, loving home to live out her golden years.

Brenna is housetrained and obedience trained, and she walks great on a leash and adores car rides. Ready for a road trip? She sure is! Brenna is happy as long as you’re not too far away. She greets new people with a happy dance and a gigantic smile, and although she can sometimes be testy with pesky pups, she gets along well with most dogs—as long as they mind their manners.

Wherever you go, she goes, and if you’re feeling down, you can lean on Brenna. She is one of those dogs whose only mission in life is to love you! When her foster mom took a bad fall recently, Brenna was there with kisses to help her get up. She’ll lay beside you on the couch with her head in your lap while you read or watch TV and will keep you company as you fall asleep at night. You don’t even have to pet her—she just wants to feel you by her side.

She just wants somebody to love, and to be loved and adored in return.

Brenna is still frisky and playful for a dog of her age, but her body isn’t what it used to be. She has arthritis, which makes her a bit creaky and unsteady sometimes. That doesn’t stop her from going up and down the stairs, though, or even taking short, easy hikes and short daily walks. She takes medication twice a day to help with the aches and pains of age, and she also takes medication for her thyroid, epilepsy (100% controlled with medication), and a hormone issue. (These are all pills she wolfs down with her food twice a day—easy peasy!)

Brenna is anxious when she’s left alone and will bark. That’s understandable given her recent loss. It’s important that she be in a home where someone is with her most of the time and where barking won’t be an issue. She’s been taking an anti-anxiety medication to help her through losing her home and the love of her life, but once she settles in to a new life and knows she’s home again, she may not need this medication any more.

Although Brenna’s kidneys are showing their age and she needs to eat a prescription kidney diet, her vet assures us she’s doing great and could have several good years left ahead of her. Now, this golden girl just needs to find a home to make her last chapter a happy ending.
