Ivy is a sweet, independant girl. She is very shy and will take time to warm up to new people. She generally runs if someone tries to pick her up, but her foster parents have trained her to go to a certain spot inside to "down and stay". That way they can pick her up and put her in a crate at dinner time. This does not work outside, she runs from them. But she will follow the rest of the dogs inside or come in if called, at her foster parent's house.
Ivy has been in foster about 3 years. She was adopted by a wonderful couple that would do anything for their pets. However, she quit eating. They took her to the vet several times and contacted her foster parents weekly for ideas. After 3-4 months it was determined that she should be returned to her foster parents for her safety and health.
Once back, she was started on a raw food diet and has done well eating that. Not nearly as picky and only misses a meal once in a while now. Foster mom will happily explain her diet.
Ivy needs a loving home that will understand her special personality. She loves to play with small dogs and would do best in a home that has other IGs or small social dogs to help her adapt to her new situation. She does not need to be crated, uses potty pads, and loves to sleep under the covers at bedtime.
