Howdy, Cowboy! This sweet Dachshund/Chihuahua cross was found in a field, dumped by his owners. Shortly after coming into our rescue we learned that Cowboy has a severe heart condition. We immediately scheduled him to be checked out by a specialist, only to be told he is not a candidate for surgical repair. We are currently able to control some of the heart problems with 3 medications, which cost approximately $70/month. He was given a life expectancy up to 3 years give or take and is doing quite well.
He is approximately 6 years young, weighs about 13 pounds, and is a total love bug. Cowboy is not the most confident dog in the pack, but he loves his furry companions! He gets along well with dogs, and could care less about the cats. He would probably benefit from the company of a confident dog in the house. He bonded very quickly to his foster mom's daughter, and follows her all over the house. He is house trained and has good doggy manners. This boy is looking for his furr-ever family, one where he knows he is going to stay! Won't you give him a place in your heart? His adoption fee is $100; this helps us to rescue & rehabilitate other shelter dogs.
