Dewey is a four year old, 69 pound boxer pit mix . Dewey is a sweet, good-natured boy AFTER he learns to trust.  This will not happen right away.  His perfect owner will understand that he is going to take time to warm up and trust.  His perfect owner will not coddle him or smother him.  His perfect owner will give him the space that he wants and NEEDS to feel safe in his new home.  Once he trusts he will be your best buddy but this will not happen overnight. If you are that person who will be strong and confident with Dewey and be willing to give him the time and space he needs, you will end up with a fantastic dog.   He is a good eater, treat motivated and knows how to sit, lay down, shake, roll over, drop it, leave it and is potty trained. Dewey loves toys and is great at fetching and returning a ball but he can't be left alone with any toys because he eats them...whole!  He sleeps in his dog bed at night and is crate trained. He’s an absolute love bug!  He loves to snuggle with his humans.  He has just completed a board and train with a professional trainer.  This training comes with a lifetime of training so his new owner will need to keep up on this training. His new owner will need to complete at least one session with the trainer to ensure his new skills follow into his new home.  He will need an experienced dog owner. Dewey is unsure of dogs he  doesn't  know. He isn’t a dog park type of dog.  He will do best in a single adult household as the only dog.  Dewey can only be adopted into a home with NO CHILDREN.  Dewey's adoption fee is $300.
