Rowdy is a handsome 2-year-old bully boy who is eager to please and ready for his family to love. His siblings were all rescued when they were puppies, but the owners kept him and then promptly put him out on a chain. Luckily, one of our rescue partners in WV heard about his plight and was able to get the family to surrender him into their care. Rowdy has been in his WV foster home for about 3 months, living with multiple other pups and learning the rules of home life. He's constantly watching people and adjusting his behavior accordingly, and loves other playful dogs of similar size or larger. Rowdy will wrestle and run with his pup buddies in his foster home, but is also very snuggly and loves to curl up with his favorite people on the couch to nap or watch TV. He is a little too interested in cats to do well with feline siblings, so no cats for this bully boy.

Rowdy is crate trained and housebroken, and is mostly quiet in the house. His foster family will leave him uncrated sometimes, and he’s never destructive, and can often be found napping in his crate when they return. He walks nicely on leash, but will pull and get excited when he sees a squirrel. He likes children but can be a bit of a jumper, so kids 7 years old+ are probably best. While Rowdy looks like a big dog in his pics, he’s only about 48lbs, and 21 inches at the shoulder. He’s just a muscular pup who looks bigger for the camera.

The ideal home for Rowdy would be an active family with another young, active dog for him to romp and play with. He really enjoys the company of other dogs, and does well in small play groups vs. a dog park, because he has a more rough-and-tumble play style. He is an athletic pup who can jump up on countertops when given the proper motivation, but well behaved enough to only demonstrate that twice since he’s been in his foster home. He responds to correction well, but is still a young pup and needs leadership and guidance from time to time.

This gorgeous pup has a steel grey, brindle coat and striking amber-colored eyes that really make him stand out. He’s come such a long way in a short time and has been lucky to have such a dedicated foster mom work with him. He is calm, relaxed, and looks to her often for guidance and obeys commands.

Rowdy is ready to take the next step in his journey home, and we hope to bring him to N. VA to start his new life soon. Looking for a FOSTER or ADOPTER to welcome him to town.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.
