    MEET
GENIE AND FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND.

Genie is a total sweetheart of a dog. This energetic 13-year-old terrier mix is house trained, crate trained, loving and gentle. She is completely mobile and has the energy of a 7-8 year-old dog.

ARWOB rescue Genie from the local San Diego shelter back in 2011 when she was just about 2yrs old. She was adopted to a family and lived with them in loving harmony for 11 years! Unforeseen circumstances caused her to be returned to the rescue. At least the owners called ARWOB and, of course, we took her back.

She is an all-around awesome dog. A total shadow, she gets very attached to her “person”. She has great mobility for a dog of any age, loves playing fetch and gives it 110%. Big dogs and small, she engages in play and politely greets every dog we meet while walking. She knows “sit” and takes treats very gently. Genie is a great “under the desk” dog- loves going to the office and being open and social with those who stop by though definitely has a general slight preference to women and prefers to be introduced slowly and patiently to new men. She gets a little surprised in new situations or with loud sudden sounds, but nothing out of the ordinary- little kids grabbing on, there would need to be some supervision and structure but she does amazing with kids who can be gentle and patient. She would honestly be a great pediatric or hospital therapy dog if someone wanted to do that with her.

She has excellent off leash recall and is a pleasure on leash. She like pooping in bushes (super funny) and rarely barks. With younger bigger dogs who want to play, she’ll often set an appropriate boundary with them and then re-initiate play once she is comfortable.

When Genie first comes to a new environment—she’s had a few different fosters—she initially has some separation anxiety. She is not destructive to herself or anything in the home. She tends to be more comfortable if there is another pet to keep her company.

Genie loves cats, and would live with them peacefully with proper introductions. She sleeps in her own bed, and once she chooses one, that’s where she always goes. She knows the command, “potty,” which is super helpful right before bed when we go into the yard.

GENIE IS JUST ABOUT PERFECT! Sweet, kind and loving. ADOPT GENIE TODAY!
