Little Addie is a 12 year old Beagle taken to the local shelter when her family, after years of neglect, decided they no longer wanted her:( She was so loved at the tiny shelter, that when she ended up on the euthansia list, volunteers begged for her rescue. Thank goodness, CCHS stepped up and placed her in their foster care program where she will now get the love and veterinary care she so deserves:(
Addie is a kind and gentle old soul with deep brown eyes that tell you her story:( And although, she was weak , covered in fleas and had a fairly large mammary tumor, she still managed to wag her tail and give kisses. Unbelievably her little spirit had not been shattered!
Addie was promptly bathed and started on good quality food and soon she regained her strength and her coat started to shine:) She was then taken to the vet for her spay and tumor removal but unfortunately blood work showed she has Addison\'s disease. She will have to receive monthly injections to manage her disease, these injections cost approximately $60 per month. Little Addie had her spay , mammary tumor removal and dental on 9/30/11. She is HW negative ,up to date on routine vaccinations and microchipped.
Our sweet Addie loves nothing more than to cuddle by her foster parents side, bask in the sun and go on a daily stroll. She does great with doggies and kiddos and although she has not met cats while in foster care, given her gentle demeanor, would likely do just fine. Addie is house trained and crated trained but is so well behaved, she is allowed to roam free in the house while her foster parents are away:)

My name is Branson! I don\'t know what happened, but one day I got lost and ended up in the Collin County shelter. When my people never came and my time was up, CCHS came to save the day! It sure is a good thing too because I really love life.
I would fit in well with just about any type of active home. I love most other dogs and don\'t mind cats. I love people of all shapes and sizes and have yet to meet a stranger. I think kids are pretty awesome and they seem to like me too! I would make a great running buddy for someone if you would like to take me with you.
Of course I love playing ball and wrestling with other pups at the dog park, but since being in my foster home, I\'ve really learned how to be a good house dog too! I\'m working really hard at walking nicely on a leash, and I\'ve gotten pretty good in my crate too.
I am totally housebroken, and I know how to use the doggy door if you have one. If you don\'t, that\'s ok too because I\'ll let you know when I need out! I\'m smart that way.
Because my previous family didn\'t keep me current on heartworm preventive, I had to be treated and stay calm for 30 days, but that\'s all behind me now, so I am not expected to have any problems from it in the future. My foster mom told me that I will always be on heartworm preventive from now on, so I won\'t ever have to go through that again.

Brie was picked up by Collin County Animal Services not feeling very well and needed to get out of the shelter asap. So a plea was sent out for help and CCHS stepped up to help Brie get the medical attention she needed. It has been discovered that she has a birth defect which means that she will need to be on meds (about $30/month), need bloodwork every 2-3 months and her life expectancy is only around 2-3 yrs. Brie is full of spunk & attitude and does not let her condition affect her daily life and has lots of LOVE to give!!
Brie is a 2 yr old Maltese, weighs 9 lbs, spayed, HW- and crate/housetrained. Loves to snuggle, is doing better everyday walking on the leash and makes friends with everyone. She does great with kids, ok with cats and does just fine with her foster brothers, but really enjoys just to chill out and is just wants a big lap to snuggle up in. Brie is a VERY cute, loving and sweet little girl looking for a WONDERFUL forever home!!!

Brooks is a very sweet and gentle soul. He is deaf but is very smart and picks up routines quickly. He is quite the gentleman thus is allowed to roam free while his foster family is away. He loves to explore the yard but mostly lay in his bed by his foster mom and watch her cook:) He does great with doggies of all sizes and given his gentle disposition would likely do well with cats. Sweet Brooks is about 8 yrs old and weighs about 13 lbs. He is neutered , HW negative, UTD on vaccines and micro chipped. He does well in the car and on leash. He is house trained and crate trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate throughout the night.

Cleo is a laid back gal that really doesn\'t take much maintenance. She hangs around the house and is a true lady of leisure. Cleo is small for a husky about 35 pounds. She might be a senior but she is still stunning. She has crystal blue eyes and will greet you at the door with a smile. She is reserved and quiet. Cleo is also mostly deaf which is probably due to the long term ear infection which has been treated. She is HW- current on her vaccinations and spayed. She is housebroken and can be trusted to roam free in the house. She gets along w/ dogs, cats and kids of all shapes and sizes.

Sweet Coco is an absolute sweetheart. She loves to lay in her comfy bed in the sun or in the kitchen close to her foster mom:) She does great with doggies and given her laid back disposition would likely do well with cats. She is very gentle and sweet natured :)

Sweet Cooper was found stray and taken into a local shelter. His owner never surfaced:( He is now safe in foster care awaiting a forever home to call his own.
Cooper is very gentle, easy going and would be ideal for a family looking for a less active pet and more of a companion. He has WONDERFUL MANNERS.. he is a TRUE GENTLEMAN. He does great with kiddos of all ages as well as his canine companions. And although he has not been exposed to cats while in foster care, given his sweet gentle disposition, would likely do just fine.
Cooper also does great on a leash and in the car. He is also house trained and crate trained but is so well behaved, he is allowed to roam free while his foster parents are away :)He has been neutered, brought current on vaccinations, microchipped and he is HW-! Cricket is about 2 years old and she weighs 18 pounds. Cricket was rescued by a good samaritan after she was hit by a truck. The truck driver carelessly tossed Cricket in to a ditch and left her for dead. Cricket was brought to a local shelter for help. When no one claimed Cricket, LHS stepped up to foster her and give her the TLC she needs.
Cricket sustained injuries to her hind legs and as a result she drags her back legs behind her. We are hopeful the injury is treatable and will know more once Cricket gets in to see a specialist. Thanks to the amazing volunteers at the shelter, Cricket arrived in foster care with a wheelchair and a brand new collar. Cricket is an extraordinary dog with a love of life. Everyone that meets her falls for her charm and personality.
Cricket is very smart and she adapts to new situations with ease. She learned to use her wheels in minutes. She is crate trained and loves people. She is good with other dogs too! Cricket is HW negative and current on vaccines.

Apparently they\'d acquired the dog as a young puppy for a 16 yr old who begged and quickly lost interest, and for the past 1.5 yrs the dog was left in the backyard with no care at all except some food. I contacted the owner via phone and email, asking for more information and offering multiple ideas and solutions and as much help as I could give. After a few days with no response, I emailed again. Finally, after still no response, the third time around I emailed and just said I\'d take the dog immediately and - shocker! - he answered quite promptly, wanting to know if I could take her that night. The owner never asked a single question about who I am or what I\'d do with his dog and has never followed up at all on her.
Thank goodness the wonderful Karen Deeds of Canine Connection in Azle stepped-up immediately to save Daisy, going to pick her up from her dreadful owners\' house and spiriting her back to her board and train facility for the attention and care Daisy had never gotten.
Daisy has been with Karen for about 1.5 months now, has gotten most of her basic vetting, has been evaluated and started working on her basic training and obedience, and is very much ready to get into a proper home.
Daisy is a Terrier / Lab mix (the owner told us she was born on 8/23/09 and that Daisy\'s \"mom was 50% Bassett hound and 50% dauchound and Dad was a 100% lab.\"), weighs about 30 pounds, is about 1.5 yrs old, has been vacc for DHLPP and rabies, fecal tested (neg), heartworm tested (neg), will be spayed before adoption, is good around other dogs once she is properly introduced (Karen thinks she would prefer a home with dogs her own size or bigger), is awesome around all people (Karen has not introduced her to any kids but suspects she would be very good with them, and we do know she came from a home with teenagers and the owner did say she is \'great with kids\'), she is cratetrained and has been fine thus far in Karen\'s house but is not loose in there much so may or may not need further work on the housetraining.

Karen says \"Daisy is a very sweet, affectionate girl and would love a family to love!\" She thinks it will do Daisy a world of good to live in a loving, patient home, as she was literally never allowed into a home and is so surprised by new noises such as the TV and dishwasher! And just in case you were wondering, Dakota recovered well from the accident, so well you could never tell anything happened to him:) He is crate trained and house trained.

Dragon is a 8 year old, male, neutered,black with white, curly coated retriever mix that weighs 86 lbs.
He was resuced from a high kill shelter in horrible condition, the shelter was unable to determine gender due to the matting and condition of this boys fur, but they put out a plea for rescue because he is the sweetest boy you will ever meet.
LHS saw this sweet boys face and knew they had to step in and save him and help him find a new family that will love him forever.
When his foster mom took Dragon outside to leave the shelter he looked at her like he couldn't believe he made it out alive and he was so grateful. He knew he had been saved and was on his way to a better life.
He was given a fluffy bed once he arrived in foster care and it took him 3 hours to believe that it was OK for him to sleep on it, he had never had a bed before!
Dragon has been through a lot of adversity and neglect but true to his breed hasn't let it change his sweet personality and trust in kindness.
He does wonderful with other doggies, cats, and kids!
He walks great on a leash, likes to play with balls, and nap on his fluffy bed.
Dragon is neutered, UTD on all vaccinations, and micro chipped.
He is HW positive and will be treated by LHS the week of 08/28/2017.

He was lifeless and has a mass the size of a grapefruit on his shoulder blade. He was taken to local animal control where they got him into the CCHS rescue group. Georgie was rushed to the vet. His blood work was off the charts, he had a huge mass, and his feces was so impacted that it would need to be surgically removed. It was determined that most importantly he needed an emergency blood transfusion. The vet at Parker Animal and Bird Clinic worked after hours to get the transfusion done and then we all waited until morning to see if he would make it through the night.
Not only did he make it through the night, but he was standing up and alert! The vet then decided it was time to remove the mass on this shoulder blade and impacted feces as he wasn\'t able to hold any food down with the blockage. He had surgery that afternoon and did great. The incision was SEVEN inches long to remove the mass!
Georgie is doing better each day! He has been released from the vet and is now in foster care getting good and strong! He is friendly, alert, and affectionate! He is neutered, HW negative, current on vaccinations and all ready for his forever home!
Georgie gets along with other dogs, but thinks those feline kinds are playtoys, so Georgie needs a cat free home.

She has no muscle mass, fly bites covering her ears, hair loss, emaciated and covered in fleas. She was taken into the CCHS foster program where she is gaining weight and strength daily. How anyone could miss treat such a gentle soul is beyond our comprehension.
Goldie is has wonderful manners, she is stunning and everything that anyone could want in a senior lady. She is housetrained and knows basic commands. Despite the neglect she endured over the last few years of her life, she does not have a mean bone in her body. She follows her foster family around the house for and gets lots of attention from the children that live in the home. She is currently living with three large breed dogs, a 2 year old and a baby; all of which Goldie does wonderfully with.
Because Goldie\'s adopters did keep her on HW prev, she tested very light positive. Due to it being such a low positive and her age, the vet recommends resuming monthly HW prev for a year then re-tested (adopter will be given year supply of HW prev). Like any senior, she is arthritic so she benifits from food with joint suppliments or over the counter suppliments ($10 a month). When his foster parents went to the shelter to pull another dog they never planned on taking him, but they just could not say no to that sweet face of his. Once out of the shelter, his adopted parents could not believe how wonderful this little guy was. He is not your typical Bassett or puppy. He rarely barks. He is so submissive and loving. He has yet to show signs that he wants to chew on anything. All he wants to do is be wherever his foster parents are and snuggle and love on them or play with his foster sibling. Jake is the most amazing little puppy!!
Jake is a Bassett mix that looks to take most of the characteristics of a Bassett Hound. He is estimated between 6-8 months old. Jake is the sweetest puppy in the world!! He was a hit at the vet today!! All the ladies loved him. Jake tested negative for heartworms today but will need to be retested again in about 6 months due to his age. Jake weighed in at 35 pounds so he is going to be a pretty good size when he finally stops growing. We are estimating around 60 pounds.
Jake fits right in with all his foster family. Jake looks to have been an outside dog and is learning to live inside. His foster family is working with him on his potty training. He is learning what it is like to relax on soft doggy pillows instead of the hard ground. Jake is still a puppy and will need a loving family that will understand that those little silly things that puppies do.

Sweet Justice was found in horrible condition. He was close to death, emaciated, covered in mange and had a collar embedded in his neck. Collin County Humane Society took him in and rehabbed him back to health.
Justice hasn\'t let his bad start in life affect him at all! He has a great personality- funny, playful, loving and devoted. Justice is truly an example of a dog\'s amazing capabilities to love and forgive. He is absolutely loving life in his foster home, keeping company with 4 other dogs, 2 kids, and daily visitors. The trailer of the people who \"owned\" this family was being re-possessed (shocking as they sound so very classy), so they then dumped all of them at the Collin County Animal Shelter. Another group stepped up for the mom and her 12 babies while Summer and her 6 puppies waited for help ... but no one came.
Molly\'s UPDATES
(08/03/09): It was with a heavy heart that I had to make the decision to put Summer and one of her babies to sleep this morning. They were humanly euthanized after they lost all control over their bodies and were only able to lay there twitching and seizing. We will hold out hope for the other 4 and will not give up until they do...
(8/04/09): Seizures for two of the puppies worsened as the night went on. The became disoriented and appeared to be hallucinating because they were growling at the air and trying running circles to escape something they thought was chasing them. One of the pups was dead when I checked on them at 7am this morning. The other two were not far behind so I took them into be euthanized so they wouldn\'t have to suffer any longer. We are down to one puppy... \"Little Puppy\" is what I\'ve been calling him. I gave him a bath, his meds, put him on the nebulizer and made him a new room away from the place where he watched his family dying around him. He had a light twitch to his paw today and a little sneeze, but other than that seems to be doing okay (he is eating on drinking on his own still...). I will keep everyone posted.
(08/05/09): Little Pup is doing okay. He has spurts of energy where he wants to play and he is still eating/drinking on his own! He is having normal BM\'s still too! But... he is still having mild twitching and still taking meds every 15 minutes (of my waking hours), nebulizer 3 times and day and antibiotics 3 times a day. Time will tell... in the mean time, here is a pic of him chilling with one of my furkids:)
(8/07/09): He was doing great yesterday! His energy was up... he was playing and acting almost like a normal puppy (aside from the tiniest little leg twitch that was only visible when he laid down). He had a big dinner and with in 5 minutes he had a very bad episode. His entire left side of his body was twitching and he was yelping in a rhythmic pattern. I gave him a 1/4 a tab of the valium to help calm the tremors and his nightly meds. In the morning he still had a slight head twitch but nothing compared to what he endured last night. He is playing today... but not as well as yesterday...
(08/11/09): Well it looks like our little Miracle boy is on the road to recovery! He is only having minor episodes where his right leg and head twitch at night and in the morning when he is sleepy. He is gaining weight rapidly and growing strong! He visited Dr Mark Bussan on Sunday to get a puppy chiropractic adjustment along with Infra-Red Laser bio stimulation and AlphaSonic Soundwave Therapy! Dr Bussan also gave us two types of supplements to help his organs and brain tissue repair within! He is no longer on the nebulizer and his meds are down to twice a day w/ the supplements from Dr Bussan given with his food! Below are a few pics of him today on his potty break:) I\'ve been calling him Harry Potter because of the scar on his forehead that probably saved his life. Had he not had that infected ant bite and been on meds right away... he might have fallen hard and fast like the others. It\'s just a small dot above his right eye on the pics... but it was a mess just two weeks ago! Stay tuned for updates!

His story:
Sweet little Linus was at the county shelter facing euthanasia. Our group came in on his last day and gave him a second chance. By the time he made it to his foster mom\'s home he was following her every step. He will stand on his back legs to get you to pet him and does not jump up on you. He is shy around new people, but once he warms up to his family, he prefers to be snuggled up with them watching tv, or going out for a walk. He can run with the best of them, but is a gentleman on a leash and will stop with the least bit of resistence to let you adjust the pace. He is a perfect ride-along companion who enjoys being the center of attention. He does great in a household with cats, but is a little picky about other canine pals. Probably would be best with smaller females since he likes to be the main man. Linus has excellent house manners, and will learn new rules very quickly. Although he can be trusted to roam the house alone, he is totally crate trained. In fact, that is where he retreats to when he feels the need for security or just to relax.
He takes extra time to warm up to men, but he has made incredible leaps and bounds with his foster dad. He will need to be in a home that is willing to continue to support his confidence in this area. Linus would do best in a home w/ kids 10 and older because of young kids unpredictable nature.
Linus is current on vaccines, neutered and microchipped!

Lulah is a very mild mannered and gentle little lady. She has become accustomed to living in a home with a family and is very grateful having been given a second chance, this time at the life she so well deserves:) She loves to go exploring in the yard, followed by a nap, right at her foster parents side:) She willingly goes into her crate at night and sleeps quietly through the night:)She does great with kiddos of all ages and is a companion to her fellow canines. She has not been exposed to cats while in foster care but can be cat tested if necessary. She is crate trained and house trained.
Lulah weighs 33 lbs, is spayed ,up to date on rotuine vaccinations and microchipped. Unfortunately since her previous family did not have her on HW preventative she tested positive:( She was treated on 7/13/12 and will need to be a lady of leisure for the next 30 days. She will then start monthly HW preventative and resume regular acivity. She will need to be retested in 6 months. Once HW are treated , they are gone for good with no long term ill effects.

My foster mommy took me out of there and brought me home with her, and I really like this much better. She says I really needed a pedicure and a facial. I have a foster brother and sister, and a couple of two legged brothers as well. We get along really well, although being the only one who gets all the attention would not be bad either. I probably would prefer a home with older kids, as younger ones are a little rambunctious for me. I would be very happy just to hang out with you, let my nose do a little sniffing and take a few naps during the day.
I really like my crate and especially my fluffy pillow. If you will leave the door open, I can in and out as I please to take my nap.
I am deaf and blind in one eye, so things startle me a little sometimes, but I will follow you anywhere for a treat. I am housetrained, and my foster mommy is really happy about that. I even bark when I am ready to come back in, I am so smart!!

He was taken to the vet and quickly given IV fluids. He was then sedated for a medical shave and also given a dental given his poor oral health. A shelter volunteer took care of him and watched closely over him and in a few days he starting feeling better and eating, ALOT!
He gradually regained his strength and it was noticed that he was weak on his hind legs, possibly due to hip dysplasia. When his foster mom heard about him , she took him into foster care where he is now resting easy.
Despite his past, this little boy is the sweetest! He loves to give kisses and lay next to his mom either on the couch or in his soft bed. He seems potty trained as he lets you know when he needs to go. And despite the weakness in his back legs, he is able to roam in the yard and house.

She is also crate trained and house trained but is such a little lady she is allowed to roam free in the house while her foster family is away. She LOVES to cuddle and take naps with her foster parents as well as lay quietly in her bed while her mom cooks:) She does great with the resident doggies and would likely do well with cats. Mona is a winnie dog mix, 8 years old, weights 9 lbs, vetted, micro chip, crate and potty trained. When Mona was a puppy her leg was broken but never received vet care to fix her little leg. It healed incorrectly but that does not stop her from having fun with all of my other fosters.
She was checked by our vet and turned out to be moderate HW positive. Because she is 8 years old we decided to do the slow kill method. Consist of giving Mona a monthly heartworm pill and recheck her in six months.

Stuart is about 4 years old and weighs about 17 lbs. He is neutered up to date on vaccinations and micro chipped. Because his previous family did not keep him on HW preventative, he was treated on 9/26/16 and will need to be a man of leisure for 30 days. He will then resume regular doggie activities. Once HW are treated, they are gone for good if kept on monthly HW preventative.

You would never know by looking at it that she has been through quite a rough ordeal in her life, but happier times are in store for this little gal. Oreyanna came to the LHS program when a plea was sent out to help a 2 yr old little gal with an ulcerated eye. So when a LHS foster mom went to pick her up at the shelter, she was stunned to see how horrible see looked for being only 2. She was a mess! Matted coat, blackish colored skin and you could tell from looking at her under side that she had been used as a puppy making machine. She most likely came to find herself at the shelter because the \"backyard breeder\" was done with her and no longer had any use for her as she now had medical issues. So first thing, Oreyanna was taken to the vet to get her the medical attention she needed. The vet found out that her eye was healing nicely (but discovered she is unable to see out of that eye), a horrible UTI and several mammary gland tumors which would require major surgery to remove, plus she was not 2, but closer to 8 -10 yrs old. Oreyanna is now scheduled for surgery on 9/30 to remove those tumors.
Oreyanna is a 8-10 yr old, 15lb Miniature Poodle who is UTD on all vaccines, HW-, current on prevention, spayed, micro-chipped, house / crate trained. She does great on a leash (even with impaired vision), gets along great her foster siblings (as long as they don\'t try to take her treats), kids & cats. Oreyanna is full of love and spunk! She loves to be held & snuggled with or just chillin\' by herself on the floor. She has come such a long way from when she first came to LHS. Her eye is healed, no more UTI, her coat is beautiful, fluffy & soft, her skin is a pretty pink color (not the nasty black-like color it was a few months ago). As her foster mom, I just can\'t say what a little sweetheart she is and want a wonderful furever companion she will be for that lucky someone / family ...... could that be you or yours?!?!

Oreyanna\'s adoption fee is $150
**Update: On 9/30, Oreyanna had a complete mastectomy (removal of all breasts and breast tissue.) She made it through the surgery and she was sent home with pain medications. This is such an extensive surgery and it can be very painful especially for an older dog. Her sutures will need to be removed in 10-14 days and she will need to be be carried up and down the stairs for one week.
Update as of 10/8: Her foster mom reports she is doing well. She has to remind Oreyanna not to walk too fast and she loves being outside. She\'s amazed at how resilient Oreyanna has been so far. Her foster mom is giving her extra cuddle time and she\'s loving every minute of it!
Update as of 10/27: Her foster mom is happy to report that she\'s doing great! She hopes to get her stitches removed this week and she\'ll schedule her for a dental next month. She is ready to go to her forever home!

Picasso always stayed put in the yard while the other dog was brought to the shelter on numerous occasions; however, the family decided to surrender Picasso instead. When Picasso arrived he was scared and had a large laceration on his head that needed to be sutured.
Picasso as been at the shelter since Feb 4, 2013.
He gets along great with the other dogs-he can be an \'only\' dog or a companion to another large breed dog. He is a snuggler who loves attention. He also loves a nice soft dog bed. The vet said the anemia has resolved and it will be a few more weeks until all his hair grows back. He has also gained a few pounds.
Roscoe is a very very mild mannered sweet boy. He loves to nap in the sun but mostly in his doggie bed. He does well with other doggies and kiddos. Would likely do well with cats . He sleeps quietly in his doggie bed and is free to roam while his foster parents are away.

She gets around pretty well on her own but will take direction with a gentle hand on her face or a gentle tug on the leash. She adores the little boy in her home and will follow him anywhere. She does great with other dogs and we think she would be fine with cats.

Spencer is an absolute luv bug that was turned into the local shelter when his human companion got ill and could no longer take care of him:( Understandibly he was very sad and confused and could not understand why his life had taken such a turn:( And as the sheleter was located in a rural area, his chances for adoption have been slim. The shelter staff loved him so they pleaded for his rescue. And when a CCHS volunteer heard his story and how long he had waited for a furever home, she quickly stepped up and took him into the foster care program where he is now cozy with his foster siblings waiting for a family to call his very own.

Sully is a sweet little guy who's owner was sent to assisted living and having a pet on a 3rd floor apartment was too much for his owners. The pet sitter for Sully graciously offered to help care for him temporarily while working to find him a forever home to live out his days. While he is almost 12 years old, he is little and mighty... and still has living/loving to give.
Like so many of us Sully struggles with allergies and needs to take Benadryl once a day. He is also allergic to chicken so he does need a food with anything but the birds! He has daily eye drops he takes once a day to help with dry eye. He takes his meds like a champ with no complains and returns the favor with kisses.
What's Sully's weakness aside from allergies you ask? Well it's food! He just loves it so much he's plumped up over the years tipping the scales over 20lbs! He finally shed a few lbs bringing him down to his ideal weight of 17lbs and he will need a family that is able to help him keep that extra weight of his little body. He does take a daily joint supplement (you can get it over the counter for around $5 at any store that sells vitamins). He would do best in a home with adults only as lots of activity and noise startles him and he will steal food from toddlers.
He LOVES his daily walks so a family able to keep up that routine for him will also help with the much needed weight loss. Sully is a loving, sweet and hefty little guy deserving of a forever home to call his own. Taz was surrendered to CCHS, along with her 8 1-week old puppies when her owner realized they could not provide the proper care for her and her beautiful puppies. She was kept outside for the first 18 months of her life, but has adjusted superbly to indoor doggie life! She absolutely loves the couch and a nice squeaky ball. She does have a lot of energy, so would require at least one daily walk/run in order to burn off that energy!
Due to the fact that she was kept outside, unprotected from the elements, Taz is currently heartworm positive, but is scheduled to receive treatment in a month\'s time. CCHS will pay for her treatment & spay surgery at the same time.
Taz is current on all vaccinations. As of 11/10/10 she weighs 50lbs. and is approximately 2 years old. She does get along with all kids, cats, other dogs, and people of all shapes and sizes. She is easily corrected if she is doing something undesirable and is super duper smart! She currently knows sit and down (meaning lay down).

Terrie is about 11 years old and weighs about 10lbs. She is spayed, HW negative, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. She does have a heart condition (an enlarged heart) for which she is daily meds. She is house trained and crate trained but is so well behaved she is allowed to roam free while her foster parents are away:)
This little love bug gets along well with other doggies and would likely do well with cats given her gentle disposition. She is, however, picky about getting picked up thus would do best in a home with no children.

Thomas is one of 9 basset hound babies born to Lady Hatt on March 11, 2012. Lady Hatt and her mate were found tied to a tree at a vets office early in the morning on March 5th. CCHS stepped up to take in Lady Hatt who was very pregnant! Another rescue group took in her mate.
On March 11th, Lady Hatt gave birth to 9 beautiful basset babies. All are doing well and growing like little weeds!
Thomas is the most outgoing of the bunch! He loves to explore and not much scares him!
Basset Hounds make wonderful family pets! They can be a bit stubborn and hard to train so they need an owner who has the time and patience to spend with with them. They are considered a pack breed and will do better with another dog as a companion. Thomas will weigh about 45-50lbs when full grown. Since he is still just a baby a home where he will not be alone all day would be best.

Hi there -- my name is Van Halen and I am a hound mix. I was found a stray and was very overwhelmed in the doggie jail. Because I was so scared in the rescue center, I was put on the EU list. A foster mom for CCHS saw me and decided that I would make a great dog for a family!
I am proud to say I have adjusted so well to being an inside house dog that I have free roam of the house when my foster mom is away! I definitely prefer to be inside and love my crate, often taking my afternoon siesta in it. I am a calm dog and happy to be around other dogs in the house as long as they are calm. I\'m an older guy, and don\'t like when other dogs get too hyper and jump on me. I am smart too! I get spunky before and after eating and then I settle into my napping routine. I also get spunky when I see my leash come out, because I love my walks and I love riding in the car! I dont jump on people or get on the couch -- I am quite the gentleman. I like to put my head in your lap and look up at you with my soul-full eyes -- especially after eating ... it is my way of saying \"thank you\". Because I\'m an older guy, and for some reason, I haven\'t had a lot of love in my life until my time with CCHS, I can be very anxious with new environments, noises and people so my foster mom doesn\'t think I would be happy in a home with children. I am on medication for my anxiety, and am relaxing, so I\'ll need to continue on medications (they cost about $20/month). I am not a big barker or yodler like most hounds... but I do like to quietly wooooo with the sirens of ambulances or fire trucks.
I\'ll be a very devoted companion to you and will love you unconditionally when I get to know you. I\'d love to meet you!
Note: As of 4/25/12 Van Halen is finished with his heartworm treatment and is now fully healthy. Once heartworms are treated, they are gone forever provided dogs remain on heartworm preventative.

She will be going to the vet next week for treatment then will need to be a laday of leisure for the next 30 days. She will then be able to resume regular activity and monthly HW preventative like all other doggies. HW have no long term effects and once treated are gone for good if the doggie is maintained on preventative.

Sweet Willow was dumped off at the local shelter, after her owner, a backyard breeder no longer had use for her:( There is no telling how many litters she has had nor how lonely her life may have been but she is a little fighter and has not allowed her past to break her little spirit!
The first time Willow saw her foster mom, she ran up to her , her tail a wagging and gave her kisses! At that moment her foster mom knew she was special and had to take her into the CCHS foster care program where she now is now living a life or leisure , being pampered as she should have been her entire life:)
Willow is truly a BEAUTIFUL SOUL. She loves following her foster mom around the house and keeping her company in the kitchen while she cooks:) And although she is in the autumn of her life, she is quite spry, enjoying a cool winter day exploring the yard:) She also likes to play with her foster siblings, especially Spenser:) But HER ABSOLUTE FAVORITE thing to do is to cuddle with her foster parents:)

In fact, one of his favorite things to do is to get on your lap, put his head on your shoulder and give kisses!!!!He does well with doggies kiddos and looooves his foster parents. He has not been exposed to cats while in foster care but can be cat tested if necessary.
Wolfgang is neutered up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Unfortunately the breeder did not have him on HW preventative therefore tested positive. He was treated on 2/6/12 and will now need to be a man of leisure for the next 30 days then will be able to resume normal doggie activity:) He is crate trained and working hard on potty training:)
