Special adoption considerations: Lucy Loo must go to an experienced dog owner who is comfortable working with a trainer to help her be more confident and comfortable.  She should also be the only dog in the home.

My name is Lucy Loo. Through no fault of my own, I found myself in the shelter with three puppies (Lewis, Lola and Larry).  My puppies have all been adopted and I am excited to be in DC to find my furever home.  I am dreaming of a family who will keep me active and give me lots of opportunities to socialize.   I also heard that dogs with homes get to go on walks and sleep inside on their very own beds, which sounds pretty great.

I am a volunteer favorite at Lucky Dog!  My fosters love me because I ride nicely in the car and am great at home.  I am happy staying in and watching Netflix and ordering in but also love to go on hikes and like to show a fitbit who is boss.  I also enjoy roller derby and crocheting.  My ultimate goal is to become a spokespup for Barkbox Super Chewer.  I follow Lexy the Elderbull on Instagram and she is a real role model for me—she knows how to wear a tutu and pearls and make it look so effortless.  I get nervous when I meet other dogs on leash so I need my new family to help me work on that.

Because they loved having me and recognize what an amazing girl I am, my fosters have sponsored me and whoever adopts me will receive a training package (included in the adoption fee) to help me with my transition and to get settled into my forever home.

Like most shelter dogs, Lucy Loo may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

Here is an update from my foster family: Lucy Loo is such a sweetheart.  She is out of the puppy stage but did not seem to have any structure prior to coming to Lucky Dog.  She is eagerly learning to sit and impress us with her smarts.  She is very food driven, making her training easy and fun.  Lucy will do best with strong leadership from an owner as she will not hesitate to be queen of the house.

She is very playful but certainly a couch potato too.  She loves tug-a-war, chewing on her bones, destroying a chew toy, wrestling with other big dogs and playing fetch. Lucy Loo loves her walks but is even more excited to get back on the couch to snuggle back up to us.  She has already been on a hike at Great Falls and was up for the challenge- what a rock climber she is!  She does well with other dogs off leash.  Lucy does amazing in cars as well- the best foster in the car we have ever had! We are so happy to have her in our home and know she will make the perfect addition as a mature mama in her forever family soon.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Megan D. at megan.luckydog@gmail.com!
