Meet Gracie!  This sweet girl is a beagle mix, weighing in at approximately 25 pounds. Gracie found herself at the shelter through no fault of her own and is looking for a forever family to give her the love and attention she deserves! Could it be yours?

Gracie has some unique health challenges, and needs a special loving home to take care of her.   She's had a little rough patch—she had a benign mammary mass removed.   Gracie has also tested positive and is being treated for Heartworm disease.  Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.   Due to Gracie’s weakened condition and age, our regular heartworm treatment protocol was not appropriate, so she is being treated through the “slow-kill” method.  This means she is given monthly preventatives to prevent new heartworm infestation, and through time the adult heart worms die off.  This can take up to 2 years, and Gracie has been treated in this way for approximately 9 months.  She is responding to the treatment and in good health.  If you are interested in adopting her while she continues to be treated this way, please contact Lowell (email below) and he can discuss this option further with you.

Gracie gets along great with kids and other dogs, but cats are not her best friends!  Like most shelter dogs, Gracie may need a refresher on house-training.  She is likely crate trained.  Gracie hopes you will want to take him home with you!

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Lowell N at lowelln@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
