Hi! My name is Cocoa, and I'm a 3 year old, 60 lb Labrador-Hound mix with quite possibly the friendliest face you've ever seen! I can't wait to meet my new forever family... maybe that's with you?

While I'm young enough to have plenty of energy for long walks, lots of trips to the dog park, and outings to streams or beaches this summerl, I'm also old enough that I am settling into a much calmer adult dog and most of my puppy crazies are behind me. As much as I love traveling around, I sure do like a good snooze on a lazy afternoon, or hanging out with you while you get your grill going on some of these warm evenings. It makes my tail wag just thinking about it!

The nice people who were taking care of at the shelter report that not only am I good with the other dogs here, but I also love children! I can't wait to play with yours out in the yard, or to listen to them practice their reading during homework time. It's all wonderful to me! I'm not so great with cats, however, so you might want to keep that in mind if you have 'em. And, of course, I sure would love to take an adult obedience class or two with you, just so I can brush up on my manners and show you what an even better girl I can be!

VOLUNTEER UPDATES:

"We took Cocoa to the dog park for a couple hours yesterday and she was a joy. She had a great time with dogs and people. She has a hound dog bay, but she keeps it pretty short. Watching Cocoa at the dog park will cheer up anyone!"

"I took Cocoa out for a walk this afternoon and she was such a sweetie. She started out head strong with enthusiasm to sniff everything as fast as possible. Once I ran some of the energy out of her, she walked calmly alongside me. She did well with other dogs we met along the walk, and definitely has some hound in her with that howl. Hope she finds a loving home soon!"

" I took Cocoa out for a walk last week, and it was such a wonderful time! The people at Wagtime were helpful and friendly, and Cocoa was an absolute doll. We walked to the Shaw dog park, and she was friendly and playful with the other dogs (she even laid down and took a nap next to one on a bench!). She bayed a bit, but it was still friendly, and she calmed down quickly. She was such a sweetheart, and would make a wonderful addition to a furrrever family :)"

So, are you ready to make me the newest furry member of your family? Go ahead and submit an application for me today!

Like most shelter dogs, Cocoa may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.
