Hello, pleased to meet you! My name is Candido and I am a young, handsome, and very friendly beagle. I like people and more than anything else I want them to like me.  I like to play and have plenty of energy but I can also sit quietly when I need to. I don't take up much space and I  promise to love you forever. Is there a place in your home for me?

Beagles are among the most popular dogs in America. Who wouldn't want their very own Snoopy? Merry little hounds, they are known for their gentle nature, velvety soft ears, and stamina. A Beagle like Candido will walk with you for miles but allow extra time so he can sniff every inch of the way.

Candido would be a welcome addition to almost any household, including a first-time dog owner or a multi-generational family. A small but robust dog Candido will be able to hold his own with bigger dogs at the dog park but he may prefer to hang out with the people. Beagles are smart like that; they know the other dogs aren't the ones carrying treat bags.

Like most shelter dogs, Candido may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained. Candido is good with other dogs but has not yet been tested with cats or kids.

Candido has tested positive and been treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Diane at dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
