Currently Living at: the shelter Stella needs a foster and a forever home.

Special adoption considerations: No children under 15 due to breed.

Stella doesn't know it yet but a whole new world is about to unfold before her big brown eyes. Stella will soon board a plane and travel from Puerto Rico to DC where she expects to find a forever home. The weather is colder here but with a sweater, a warm bed, and lots of love Stella will discover that this is the best thing that's ever happened to her. There's just one piece of the puzzle that's missing: who will be her new family?

For those who love small dogs, and Chihuahuas in particular, Stella will be a wonderful addition to your household. Cute and cuddley, Stella would just love to snuggle up next to you. Lively and entertaining by nature, you will enjoy countless laughs just watching her prance around the house.

Stella is the ideal size for travelers who can't bear leaving their dog behind. At only 9 lbs she would easily fit in an airplane carrier. Apartment dwellers take notice: Stella certainly won't take up much space and you won't need to buy 60 lb bags of dog food. Daily walks will provide Stella with all the exercise she needs. Chihuahuas need little grooming compared to many other breeds.

Already have a dog? No problem! Most Chihuahuas can hold their own with bigger dogs as there is nothing small about their attitude and personality. Stella gets along fine with other dogs and would not mind having a brother or sister to hang out with.

Like most shelter dogs, Stella may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained. Stella has not yet been tested with cats. Due to her breed, Stella cannot go to a home with children under the age of 15.
