Foster Home Feedback

11/27/16:  Guido is one of our most favorite fosters so far! He defines “gentle giant.” He was very scared at first being separated from his sisters, but he has opened up to us now.  Guido does well with our two other dogs in the home and our 1 year old son. He is very gentle with our son and knows his boundaries. Guido still isn’t positive about eating, but he is easily tricked into eating his food with a couple treats first. He is very gentle taking treats from your hand!

The first night home, we let him outside in our fenced in yard. After three hours, he absolutely refused to come inside. Needless to say, we now walk him on a leash to avoid the circus act of night one...  He walks very well on the leash and doesn’t pull. Guido does like to play a little on the leash but is worn out after a slow trot. I am sure once he was comfortable with his family, he’d be fine in a fenced yard.

We did kennel Guido the first few days when we left the house, but he wasn’t a fan of going in. Once he was in, he was fine, but he did have an accident while trying to get him in. We do not kennel him anymore because he doesn’t need to be. The kitchen is his safe zone and he stays there usually.

The first couple days, Guido would have small accidents if he got scared, but that only lasted a few days and has not happened since.

Guido would do best in a home with children or another dog. He definitely needs a lot of love! Anyone would be lucky to open their home to Guido!
