Name:  Cotton   Breed:  Lab/Shepherd mix

Approximate Age:  1-2 years old

Approximate Weight:  40-50 lbs

Currently Living at:  an overcrowded rural shelter -- Cotton needs a forever home ASAP!!

Meet Cotton!  He is a 1-2 year old, seriously handsome male shepherd/yellow lab mix.  Through no fault of his own,  Cotton finds himself stuck in a rural, overcrowded shelter with not much of a chance for life.  He and two other dogs were left there because their owner had a serious illness, and no family members were willing to care for the dogs.

In spite of the tough time he's had, Cotton is a super-friendly, happy and loving boy, who is hoping you'll help him get out of the shelter and start a new, better life with someone who really loves him and wants a loving new family member in their lives!

Cotton says...Hi there, everyone!  They call me Cotton, and they say that I'm just the most handsome, sweetest boy ever!!  Do you have room in your heart and home for a pup like me?  I have a beautiful light golden coat with white accents that's super-soft…great for everyone to pet me (hint hint). :-)  I weigh about 40-50 pounds (not too big), which makes me a perfect size for an apartment, house or condo!!  They say I am probably some sort of Shepherd/lab mix…all I know is that I'm a happy pup and I love to play, get lots of pets, and give lots of doggie kisses!

Read below for more info on Cotton, and email ASAP if you are interested in him!

Cotton says...I don't know why, but somehow I ended up in this cold shelter.  It's a pretty scary place.  I don't get to go outside, it gets really really loud when new dogs come in (which happens all the time), and no one comes to visit me.  So I get more and more scared here.  I really hope I can get out of here really soon!

Don't you think I would look really cute as your new Facebook cover photo, romping around in the sunshine and rolling in the grass (or snow)?  And how I'd love to snuggle up by you while we relax inside after a day of fun adventures.  I just really want to run, play, then snuggle, nap and dream of all the adventures we'll have together.  I would just LOVE trips to the dog park and hikes in the woods -- I love to discover new things!

Sweet Cotton makes friends with everyone he meets.  At around 1-2 years old, he is past the baby puppy phase (no all-night crying or bathroom breaks every 2 hours!) but like any young dog, still needs lots of exercise to stay happy and healthy.

Cotton's new person or family will need to make sure he gets lots of socialization and playtime with other dogs and people to keep up the good social skills he has already!  And like all dogs we adopt out, he'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with his people, and help him become a well behaved companion or family member.  Cotton seems to like all the people he meets, and can't wait to wiggle his way into your heart and home.

Like most young dogs, Cotton might need a refresher on his house training when he gets to a new home.  He will also need to go to obedience school so he can continue to be a well-socialized dog!

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and e-mail it to at Sheila at ASAP!
