Well helloooo there! Nice to meet you!
BARNEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Barney Breed: Lab/Bassett Mix
Approximate Age: 3 years SEX: male
Approximate Weight: 30 pounds
Has Lived With: dogs
Currently Living at: DC foster
Special adoption considerations: Being treated for heartworm in South Carolina.
FOSTER UPDATE:
Meet Barney! This outgoing 3-year-old lab/bassett mix boy is as sweet as can be! At about 30 pounds, he is very kind, energetic and affectionate toward everyone he meets (animal or human)!
Barney has a playful, active and curious personality and will need mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis. He loves playing with other dogs and always looks forward to his dog walks, so trips to the dog park or doggie daycare would be great!
Barney is still a young dog, and he will need a committed owner to provide training and exercise to be a well-behaved dog.
Barney is dreaming of finding a warm and loving forever home! All he needs is a caring person or family to give him all the love and care (and treats!) he deserves!
Like most shelter dogs, Barney may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.
Barney has tested positive and is being treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Emily Jagdmann at emilyj@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
