Meet Handsome Hoss!

HOSS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Hoss    Breed: Black Lab Retriever Mix

Approximate Age: 1.5 year old as of November 2017    SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 45 lbs.

Has Lived With: other dogs, cats

Currently Living at: DC Boarding!

Special Adoption Considerations: Hoss is a great pup but gets nervous around kids so he's best for a family with kids over 12!

Hoss is a sweet 1.5 year old Retriever mix. He weighs about 45 lbs and, because of his age, may fill out a little but is otherwise done growing. We don't know how this sweet boy ended up in a shelter but it hasn't dampened his spirits one bit and he can't wait to meet his forever family!

Hoss will need plenty of exercise and playtime each day to be a happy and healthy pup. He would love to go on daily long walks, hikes and regular trips to the dog park. After he's tuckered out, Hoss loves cuddling up for a nice nap and belly rub. He can't wait to go to obedience training with his new family so that he can bond with his people and become his very best self!

Hoss is good with other dogs and cats so he'd be a great addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog. He passed his cat test at the shelter. He's not great with little kiddos so he will do best in a family with no kids or with kids over 12!

Like most shelter dogs, Hoss may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

Hoss has tested positive and been treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Meg at megh@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
