LUKE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Luke    Breed: Shepherd mix

Approximate Age: 2 years     SEX: male

Approximate Weight: 50 lbs.

Has Lived With: other dogs

Currently Living at: DC boarding

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... I found out I would be coming to the DC area soon to find my forever family! My name is Luke, and I'm a 2-year-old, 50-pound shepherd mix. And who doesn't love a shepherd mix with a goofy ear? No one, that's who!

I'm a young boy, so I'm looking forward to lots of walks, trips to the dog park, and maybe even some hikes! It's a little hard to fly an X-wing with no opposable thumbs, but I might enjoy playing fetch or lots of belly rubs! I have a LOT of energy, so it's important that you be able to run with me, or maybe even take me to doggie daycare 1-2 times a week so I can wear myself out playing with other dogs. Alternatively, when you've worn me out with lots of exercise and playing, I can't think of anything better than maybe a nice nap on a comfy bed of my own... or maybe even your couch (ha-ha!)!

The nice folks down here tested me with cats and kids, and I did really well! I would still need to be properly introduced to yours if you have them, though. Also... there's the matter of control. I must learn control. So I sure would love it if you'd sign me up for some obedience classes so I could learn how to walk nicely on a leash, sit and wait patiently, and show you what a good boy I can be. That sounds like so much fun!

So, what are you waiting for? Are you ready for a sweet boy like me to join your world? Please fill out an application for me and submit it today!

Like most shelter dogs, Luke may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

Luke has tested positive and will be treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Liz K. at lizk@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
