Hello, my name is Shimmer! I am an easy-going gal who has seen a lot in life. People tell me I have a gorgeous coat, although it's the same one I have always worn. I am on the fluffy side so if your ideal dog is a warm and snugly red-haired girl, I am just what you have been looking for!
Shimmer is a lady who is long past the bouncy puppy stage. She's missing some teeth in front so she has learned, like all successful models, to smile with her eyes. Those big pools of liquid will just melt your heart. Do you have room in your life for our sweet Shimmer?
A medium-sized dog Shimmer will want to play, go for long walks, play fetch and generally do everything you want to do. She will make a great companion because shelter dogs understand how important it is to have a home. Her new family, whether it's one person or several, will experience the joy of watching a dog realize that it finally it loved and has a warm, secure place to live. You will receive Shimmer's unconditional love in return.
Like most shelter dogs, Shimmer may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained. Shimmer gets along well with other dogs but has not yet been tested with cats or kids.
Shimmer has tested positive and {been treated for} for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Diane at dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
