RILEY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Riley    Breed: Labrador Retriever mix

Approximate Age: 2-3 years old     SEX: male

Approximate Weight: 50 lbs.

Has Lived With: other dogs

Currently Living at: DC Boarding

Hiya, hiya, hi!! I'm Riley, a 2-3 year old, 50-pound Labrador mix, and guess what?! I'm already here in the DC area, just waiting to meet you and join your family! Can you believe it? I'm so happy, I haven't stopped smiling since I got here!

Before I arrived in DC, the nice people taking care of me at the shelter I came from were very impressed with how much energy I have! I could play fetch ALL DAY LONG... or at least until I got tired. I might even make a great running partner! However, I also seem to have a few manners, and can follow basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. High energy AND a gentleman? What's not to love??

I'm not sure if I'm good with cats or kids, but we can figure that out when I arrive! Additionally, even though I seem to know a few commands, I'm definitely the scholarly type, and would love for you to enroll me in an obedience class or two so I can polish my manners and skills even further. Oooooh! That makes me so happy, I can't seem to get my tail to stop wagging!!

I tested positive for ehrlichia, which is a tick-borne bacterial illness. However, I've been treated for it and should live a long, healthy life provided I am kept on a flea and tick preventative.

So, whaddya say? Are you ready for a high-octane boy like me to romp on into your life? Please fill out and submit an application for me today!

Like most shelter dogs, Riley may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

Riley has tested positive and been treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Liz K. at lizk@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
