SUZI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Currently Living at: MD foster - needs a forever home!

Special adoption considerations: Suzi was recently rescued from a dog meat farm in Korea.  She needs a home with a resident dog(s), an experienced adopter, and a lot of patience!  While she is making great progress, she is unsure of her new environment and is shy when meeting new people.

Foster Update: 

Suzie is doing great!  She’s fully house trained and even cries at the door to go outside now. She goes on daily walks on the leash around the neighborhood and she is getting better with people coming around.  She’s very social and stays with the family all the time. She willingly goes in the crate when I leave and does not cry nor show any separation anxiety.  

Suzi goes with the flow and follows her doggie sibling around. She never complains nor whines, she doesn't beg for food nor get into trouble and listens very well. She'll immediately stop when corrected (like when she tries to steal socks from the laundry bin!) and she is continuing to learn commands. Suzi is very curious and wants to be social, so I’m confident she’ll continue to make progress. Suzi loves to play with her doggie sibling - they wrestle, chase balls and play tug-o-war. Suzi is not a snuggler and does not get up on furniture. When she becomes more confident, she may snuggle more because she is affectionate and loves to be pet and brushed. 

As it says above, this 1 year old, 50 lb sweetheart just joined our Lucky Dog family after being rescued from the Korean Meat Trade. Suzi has come a long way in building trust with her foster family by spending more time with her foster mom and siblings. She listens well, comes when called and loves her toys and playing tug-o-war! It will take love and patience for Suzi to begin to feel and act like a normal pup.

Suzi is just starting to go to adoption events and is a little shy when approached.  Her foster Mom will be happy to share her progress with you and show you videos of how she interacts in the home.

Potential adopters must have experience with raising and training shy, unsocialized dogs, and expect a transition period to last a few months, at a minimum.  Note that Suzi is still skittish with new situations and noises so a quieter home with a regular routine and no kids under 15 years old would be the best environment. 

Because Suzi is about a year old, she is likely done growing but may gain a few pounds as she gets used to life here in DC. She is past the puppy stages but once she's out of her shell will still require PLENTY of exercise. She'd love to learn what it's like to play with new toys, explore the neighborhood, and maybe even meet new friends at puppy school! She needs a home filled with patience and an abundance of love and trust.  

Suzi is currently living in a wonderful foster home with another dog and will require a furever home with a second dog so her new canine sibling can show her around! 

Although Suzi is doing great with housetraining, she will likely need reminders when she gets to her furever home.
