BELLA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!

Name:  Bella      Breed:  Jindo mix

Approximate Age:  1 year     SEX:  female

Approximate Weight:  45 lbs

Has Lived With:  dogs, cats

Currently Living at:  a DC area foster home -- Bella needs a forever home ASAP!!

Special adoption considerations:   Bella has a very special story...she is one of several dogs we have rescued from a Korean dog meat farm, thanks to the heroic efforts of Humane Society International.  HSI shut down that farm, but there are many more to go.  Bella is symbolic of monumental efforts to end the unimaginably cruel, horrific practice of dog meat farming that is practiced in many countries throughout Asia.  Dogs are born and live their entire lives trapped in crowded cages, sitting in their own urine and excrement, then are viciously killed and eaten.  Lucky Dog is proud to be part of the effort to end this needless suffering by helping to find loving homes for dogs rescued from this terrible fate.

In spite of her awful beginnings, Bella is doing very well in her foster home with several other dogs.  She will take time to adjust to a new home since she has been through an incredible amount of transition in her life!

More about Bella: Bella is around 1 year old, and seems to love her foster siblings and foster parents!  She's a friendly girl and so far is much more outgoing than the other dogs we have rescued from the Korean meat farm.

At around 1 year old, Bella will need lots and lots of exercise to stay happy and healthy.  And like all dogs we have for adoption, she'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with her people and help her become a well behaved companion or family member.

Like most young dogs, Bella may need a refresher on her house training when she gets to a new home.  She will also need to go to obedience school so she can continue to be a well-socialized dog!

Bella has tested positive for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and e-mail it to at Elissa at elissak@luckydoganimalrescue.org ASAP!
