Approximate Age: 3 years old as of March 2017   SEX: female

Approximate Weight: 65 lbs.

Currently Living at: DC boarding

MaDuke is a beautiful 3 year old Shepherd/Great Dane mix. She weighs about 65 lbs and, because of her age, is done growing. We don't know how this loving girl ended up in a shelter but it hasn't dampened her spirits one bit and she can't wait to meet her forever family!

MaDuke will need plenty of exercise and playtime each day to be a happy and healthy pup. She would love to go on daily long walks, hikes and regular trips to the dog park. After she's tuckered out, MaDuke loves cuddling up for a nice nap and belly rub. She can't wait to go to obedience training with her new family so that she can bond with her people and become her very best self!

MaDuke is good with other dogs so he'd be a great addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog. She has interacted with young children at multiple adoption events beautifully and does great riding in the car. The nice folks at Lucky Dog don't know how MaDuke is with cats but if you're interested, let us know and we can try to find out! 

Like most shelter dogs, MaDuke may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

MaDuke has tested positive and been treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
