Special adoption considerations:  Intrepid is very high-energy and strong, and should go to a home with children over age 12.

Hi!  My name is Intrepid, and I am an 8-month-old, 60-pound Yellow Lab mix who is on the hunt for a new home! According to the nice hoomans trying to help me find my new family, it appears I have nothing but energy--energy to run, energy to knock tiny people over, energy to chase all my doggo friends for SO MANY MINUTES without getting tired... basically, if we could hook up the North American power grid to me somehow, our energy worries would be over. For, like, a hundred years.

Like most young Lab mixes, I am FULL of energy. There is a good chance walks only will not be enough for me! I would love to take long walks with you everyday, but I'd also like to visit the dog park on a regular basis so I can run around with my other doggie friends, and if you're a runner--even better! I would like nothing better than to learn to run with you! On the other hand, once I finally DO wear myself out? A nap on your couch or a cozy bed of my own sounds like just the thing!

It is a MUST that you sign me up for some obedience classes, because at 60 pounds I need to make sure I have my sit, stay, wait, and nice leash walking down cold!

And here are some notes from my foster! "Intrepid does need help learning to walk on a lead--he is a strong guy and pulls in every direction. He needs a good training harness, classes to teach him to heel, and a strong adult to lead him. He will chew on his leash and harness so it is important to catch that and correct him before he chews his way to freedom. However, on the upside, Intrepid is as friendly as it gets. He expresses no ill will towards any human or animal. When other dogs pass by, he will either lie down or casually greet them. Intrepid has learned to lie down upon request. A treat is a helpful aid to motivate this good behavior. Intrepid would benefit greatly if he lived close to a dog park. He is young and has tons of energy. Intrepid will be a lovable companion to his owner and looks forward to finding his forever home."

So, whaddya say? Are you ready for a sweet boy like me to come bouncing into your life? Fill out and submit an application for me today!  Like most shelter dogs, Intrepid may need a refresher on house training. He is likely crate trained.
