BRANDI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Brandi    Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix

Best Guess for Age: 3 years     SEX: female

Approximate Weight: 11.4 lbs.

Has Lived With: other dogs

Currently Living in a home, Brandi needs a forever home.

Special adoption considerations: No cats or apartments; Brandi would benefit from being in a home with a second dog but this will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Hi, my name is Brandi and yes, I really am as cute as my picture! People  joke about my big ears but I think they make me look special. You can see for yourself by coming to meet me at a Lucky Dog Adoption event!

Update from Brandi’s foster: Brandi is one of the sweetest, most affectionate, and devoted dogs I have ever known. She is shy at first but it doesn't take her long to warm up and once she does you are in for a treat. She gets so excited when you get home that she doesn't just wag her take she wags her entire body! She always wants to be by your side or on your lap. She just needs a gentle, patient, and devoted owner who is willing to work with her, fortunately she is very motivated by treats!

Brandi is an anxious little girl who needs an understanding adopter. Our adoption events can be scary for small dogs but Brandi has made great progress in just a few weeks. She is now more comfortable with all the people and other dogs around her. Having another dog in the family will help Brandi feel more confident but a home where her people are around most of the day might also work just fine for her. If you are retired and looking for a little companion who wants to be by your side Brandi is your girl!

She loves being with her people and will bond tightly with her new family. It takes her a bit longer to warm up to men but she will do so when she's ready. Brandi has a bit of separation anxiety and would do best with someone who is home most of the day. She can be quite the barker so a single family home is the best environment for Brandi.

Don't let her small size fool you. Brandi is one active little dog and will need plenty of exercise. She loves her daily walks but you will need to give her some running time to tire her out. Due to her anxiety she's not a candidate for doggie daycare or the dog park so a fenced-in back yard where she can play with you and your dog is ideal.

Brandi could benefit from obedience classes to learn just how good a dog she can be. She gets nervous when around something she finds new and scary, which often triggers her barking. Brandi's adopter will need to be committed to training to help reduce Brandi's anxiety and make her feel secure in her new home.

Like most shelter dogs, Brandi may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained. Brandi gets along well with other dogs but cannot go to a home with cats. Brandi would do best in a home with older children as she startles easily.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Diane at dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
