Special adoption considerations: Wendell needs a home without kids. 

Temporary Foster Update: "Wendell is medium energy with a couple walks a day being enough to keep him happy. Wendell does not shed much and does not like the cold, but he does have a husky/shepherd personality. Wendell loves treats and attention so he is very trainable, but Wendell will talk back and try to convince you to see it his way if you tell him no. Wendell is very well behaved in the house, and only chews on his toys. Wendell is great with dogs, and grownups once he gets to know you. If you are interested in a dog with a strong happy personality, Wendell would like to be your partner."

Meet handsome Wendell! Wendell is about one and a half years old, he is a shepherd mix with a single short coat, weighing in at 78.4 lbs and he can't wait to meet you!

Wendell, though out of the crazy puppy stages, will still need PLENTY of exercise and cannot wait to learn with you in DC! He's dreaming of long walks and trips to the dog park in his future and would love to play with new toys, explore the neighborhood and even go to obedience classes to show off just how smart he is!  He already knows how to sit on command and takes treats very gently from your hand. He does need help with his manners. He's counting down the minutes until he can meet your friends, go on trips, and cuddle up with you on the couch after a long day. 

Wendell  is GREAT with other dogs, so he'd be a good addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog. He will need to go to a home without kids. He hasn't yet met cats - let us know if you have any and we can test him out!

Like most shelter dogs, Wendell may need a refresher on house training. He is likely crate trained.
