Super Sweet Girl Looking for Her Forever Home!

Come meet Edith and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (August 6) from 12-2 pm at the Unleashed by Petco (5400 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA 22207)!!!!!!

EDITH NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Edith    Best Guess for Breed: Labrador Retriever mix

Best Guess for Age: 1 year old as of 5/2/17     SEX: female

Approximate Weight: 60-65 pounds

Has Lived With: other dogs

Currently Living at: DC boarding

I am so confused! How did I end up in a shelter?? My name is Edith, and I am a beautiful 1-year-old, 60-65 pound Labrador Retriever mix. Fortunately, I have recently arrived in the DC area, and I sure am looking forward to being here!

I am a YOUNG girl, and so I am going to need several long walks everyday and lots of opportunities to work off all my energy. I would definitely be a great running partner! However, since I'm used to hanging around other dogs, lots of trips to the dog park or other dog-friendly places would be so fun for helping me socialize and make new dog friends. However, once I tire myself out? I sure am looking forward to taking nice long naps in my own cozy bed--I don't know if I snore, though.

I don't know how I'll do with cats yet, but we can certainly figure that out when I get to town! Additionally, since I'm kind of on the big side, it's really important that you sign me up for some obedience classes, so I can learn how to walk politely on leash, sit, stay--all my basic manners! I can't wait to show you what a smart and polite girl I can be!

I've just graduated from a week-long dog training camp at Heeling House in Sterling, Virginia! While I was there, I worked with kid campers to learn all kinds of things like basic commands, some agility skills, and how to be a more appropriately socialized big dog! So while I still could use a longer obedience training course to help further my learning, I am super proud of my accomplishments!

Here are some notes from one of our handlers at a recent Lucky Dog adoption event!:

Edith, whom I transported and handled on Saturday, is a very sweet dog. She's quite calm, and gets along well with other dogs. She's also great with children. Although her bio says she's a Lab Retriever Mix, I believe she's a hound dog, maybe almost purebred. She has that characteristic bony knot on top of her head, and her expression is identical to a Red-Tick Coonhound that I know pretty well!

When her family finds her, she'll need some serious leash training. We worked on "sit" during the event, and she's definitely willing to work for a treat!

She's a great dog, and very beautiful, so I'm hoping that she'll be discovered by her new family soon.

So, are you ready for a sweet girl like me to come bouncing on into your life? Fill out and submit an application for me today!

Like most shelter dogs, Edith may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Liz K. at lizk@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
