BERNIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Bernie Best Guess for Breed: Shih Tzu Mix
Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of 5/15/17 SEX: male
Approximate Weight: 18 lb

Currently Living at: DC area foster home! Bernie needs a FOREVER home!
Handsome and super sweet little Bernie is excited about the idea of going home soon. Bernie is hoping to find a home where he has a soft bed, regular meals, someone to brush and groom him, toys to play with, long walks and unconditional love for the rest of his life. This little guy will make a wonderful addition to any size home. Bernie enjoys the company of other dogs and doesn't mind kitties. If you would love to bring Bernie home, please contact the coordinator listed below with your application. (link also below) Because Bernie is patiently waiting to come home, for forever..
PS: Bernie has a little hernia but it will be taken care of along with his Heartworm treatment before he arrives in the DC area.
His low shedding coat will require regular grooming. Bernie thinks an obedience class with his new owner by his side would be fun!
Like most shelter dogs, Bernie may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.
Bernie has tested positive for Heartworm disease and has already been through his treatment. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from a single mosquito bite. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative, as all dogs should be.
The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sue C at suec@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
