Approximate Weight: 64 lbs.

Has Lived With: other dogs, cats

Currently Living at: DC Area Foster Home. Kiaya needs a forever home! 

Kiaya is a beautiful 3 year old Rottie mix. She weighs about 64 lbs and, because of her age, may fill out a little bit but is otherwise done growing. We don't know how this loving girl ended up in a shelter but it hasn't dampened her spirits one bit and she can't wait to meet her forever family!

Kiaya will need plenty of exercise and playtime each day to be a happy and healthy pup. She would love to go on daily long walks, hikes and regular trips to the dog park. After she's tuckered out, Kiaya loves cuddling up for a nice nap and belly rub. She can't wait to go to obedience training with her new family so that she can bond with her people and become her very best self! 

Kiaya is good with other dogs AND cats so she'd be a great addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog. The nice folks at Lucky Dog don't know how Kiaya is with young children but if you're interested, let us know and we can try to find out! 

Like most shelter dogs, Kiaya may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

Kiaya tested positive and has been treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
