Come meet Gizmo and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday, (June 25) from 12-2 pm at the Rockville Petco (1507 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852)!!!!!

GIZMO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Gizmo    Best Guess for Breed: terrier mix

Best Guess for Age: 3 y/o   SEX: male

Approximate Weight: 38lbs

Has Lived With: dogs

Currently Living at: DC Boarding - Gizmo is looking for his forever family!

Adorable Gizmo is so excited he's out of the shelter and looking for his forever family! He's a bundle of joy that loves everything about life AND REALLY HOPES YOU DO TOO.  Life is too exciting to spend in a cold dreary shelter and Gizmo knows how to live life to the fullest.  While he is on the medium size, around 38lbs, he packs his energy into every ounce. He's definitely looking for a family that will keep up with him and wants to enjoy the great life that he knows exists!  We're not totally sure what kind of dog he is so we're currently saying he's a terrier mix.  We also guess that he's around 3 years old.

From a volunteer: "Gizmo is a really sweet, energetic pup who was excited to be outside – he couldn’t stop sniffing and exploring. He was particularly excited by bicycles and would try to chase them down. He did really well off-leash at the dog park when other dogs came to sniff at him – was friendly but generally minded his own business. He was also able to pick up on ‘sit’ and ‘down’ quickly with the incentive of a treat."

Like most shelter dogs, Gizmo may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

Gizmo has tested positive and was treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
