COCK A DOODLE DOO!

ROOSTER NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Rooster   Best Guess for Breed: Great Dane Mix

Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years     SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 70-80lbs

Has Lived With: other dogs

Currently Living at: DC area boarding facility. Rooster needs a foster or better yet, FOREVER HOME!

Special adoption considerations: Large breed dog, may not be aware of his size.

COCK-A-DOODLE DOOOOO BROTHERS AND SISTERS! My name is Rooster and wouldn't you just like to wake up every morning to my handsome face!

We could start off the day with cuddles, and end it with hugs. Really I just want a loving home with a cushy bed to lay my floppy ears.

I'm super treat motivated and can already sit on command so that should make training a fun endeavor but know that I'd really benefit from a formal obedience training class!

I think it'd be great to head to the dog park and take lots of walks to get some exercise in so I can keep my boyish figure.

Whattya said, friend, do you have room in your heart and home for a pup like me? Well get to filling out that application already---I'M WAITING!

Annnnnd now a few words from my foster:

"Rooster is a stereotypical “gentle giant” as Great Danes are often called. He is tall and handsome with a large head, but his overall size is not as big as many male Great Danes.

You appreciate his size when you see him run swiftly across an open field. You also appreciate it when he leaps into your open lap. Those are his two favorite things and are endless sources of joy for both Rooster and family. Rooster gets along well with children and other dogs. They just need to be ready for his size when comes up to them. People need to be ready when he leans against them, as Great Danes famously do. He loves belly rubs and it is cute to see his long legs wave in the air as he rolls onto his back and looks at you to give him some loving. He drinks a lot of water, so you need to keep his water bowl full and beware the trail he leaves on your floor after he drinks.

Rooster is smart and food motivated, making him easy to train. He is crate trained and had no accidents in the house. He does not “counter surf” although his size would permit him to steal anything off the counter or table if he wanted your food. He knows his manners and listens well if you think he needs to change his behavior.

If you have a lot of love to give a dog and would like a lot of dog to love, Rooster might just be your dog."

Like most shelter dogs, Rooster may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Tanya at tanyab@luckydoganimalrescue.org
