BOISTEROUS BAXTER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!

Name: Baxter      Best guess for breed: Lab mix

Best guess for age: 2 years old as of 6/13/17    SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 80-90 lbs

Currently Living at:  A DC area foster home, Baxter needs a forever home.

Hi there, my name is Baxter! I am a friendly and gregarious lab mix, looking for someone to open up their home to me. I love people and other dogs, and would love to be part of a family that is looking for a big pup.

Here's a little more about me. I am 2 years old, which means I am done growing. I would definitely be happy to get some obedience training so I can learn and be able to bond with my people. I would be the happiest with people that would love to take me outside on some really nice long walks or to dog parks where I can make some new friends. In fact, my friends at the shelter say I'm a goofball who's always smiling!

Foster update:

Baxter is AWESOME! He's so sweet and good natured and essentially a 90 lb. lap dog. He loves being all over you and on top of you. He doesn't seem super high energy and he doesn't jump on you (which is great since he is so big). Getting his head scratched is his favorite thing ever. He gives you this goofy smile and he's very gentle when taking treats and playing with his toys. He's also great on leash and redirects really well. He's also met several dogs and done very well with all of them - even the smaller ones. He seems to realize he's bigger than they are. He's honestly super great all around!

Baxter also recently participated in a Heeling House Junior Training Camp, where he learned basic obedience skills with the help of campers aged 10-15, so we also know he does well with older kids. I'm not sure yet how young children or cats fit into my lifestyle, but I would be happy to find out for you, with the help of my friends at Lucky Dog.

Like most shelter dogs, Baxter may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for Baxter is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire  and email it to Mandy DeVine at mandyd@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
