A pleasure to meet you! I'm Harriett--a 1-year-old, 45-pound Labrador Retriever mix, and I just found out I'm going to be headed to the DC area soon to find my own furever family!

Even though I am a young girl, my life started out a little rrrrruff, so I'm looking forward to better times ahead! I am the mother of the H-pups, who were recently transported up to DC and found their own homes, and now it's my turn! Because I'm so young, you can expect I will need a LOT of exercise--a couple of walks each day may not be enough! I'm looking forward to long walks, trips to the dog park, maybe some running with you, and making new dog friends to play with on a regular basis. However, once I get all my fizz out each day, I can't wait to crash out on my very own cozy bed--or maybe yours (hee-hee)!

I'm not sure how I'll do with cats yet, but we can certainly figure that out when I arrive! Additionally, I look forward to taking obedience classes with you so I can learn all my commands and manners and show you what a great girl I can be.

Here's a glowing recommendation from the nice family who is taking care of me while I recover from my heartworm treatment: "Harriett is doing very well after completing her heartworm treatment last week. She is a joy to have around the house. She interacts very well with my other dogs (3) and is great around kids! My son loves playing fetch with her in the yard.  I have included a video of her... this was taken yesterday morning after her being in the house only 10 minutes. You can see how she has adjusted quickly."

As you can see from my video, I absolutely love the sofa. I like to think of it as my own "throne" of sorts... so much that my adoption coordinator decided to give me a proper title of my very own: " Harriett of the House Florence, the First of Her Name (Seriously. I Looked it Up.), The Unwhite, Queen of the Smiley Pics, the Belly Rubs, and the First Labradors, Queen of Wiggly Butts, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Backyard, Protector of the Nylabone, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kennels, Breaker of Chains and Mother of the H-Pups."

So, how about it? Are you ready to help my life turn around? Fill out and submit an application for me today!

Like most shelter dogs, Harriett may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

Harriett has tested positive and will be treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Liz K. at lizk@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
