Well hello there humans, my name is McAllister. I've been told I am quite the handsome lad. I'm about 3-4 years old (age is just a number!), about 35 lbs, and some type of Spaniel mix. I look forward to the days of moving up to the DC area and being able to find a family of mine own. I've heard that there are these nifty places called dog parks that I have been waiting to check out. I also want to find people to call my own, and to able to hang out on the couch and maybe even watch some sportsball. Do you think you can be my humans?

McAllister should not go to a home with cats as he maybe likes them a little too much, unfortunately. 

Like most shelter dogs, McAllister may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

McAllister has tested positive and is awaiting treatment for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
