Whew, I'm tired! After a long flight from Kosovo, I am looking forward to settling into my new home. It may take me a little time to get comfortable, but I would love to find a family that is willing to call me their own. I'm about 1 year old, and some type of basset hound/shepherd mix, and somewhere around 25 lbs. I know I'm adorable, so that's all that counts. I've hung out with other dogs and kids, and love them all. Are you the ones to help me start my new life here in America? If so, reach out to the nice lady listed below!!
Bernard has been working on his housetraining, but definitely needs someone to help him with it! He has been doing okay in the crate so far.
Update from foster:
Bernard is settling in and doing great so far. Still very shy, but slowly exploring. He did well on the car ride today, and for bath time (so much hair!) He loves our freeze-dried chicken treats, so I've been using those to lure him as needed. Met both our dogs, but still shy around them, so no playtime yet. Also gave the cat a sniff, and was greeted with her usual foster greeting of a hiss and swat, so has been steering clear since.
In addition to chicken treats, he LOVES belly rubs. He's spent most of this evening curled up next to me on the couch while getting belly rubs and scratches (I'm actually having to type this with one hand because we can't stop with the belly rubs). So far he's a sweetheart!
Bernard has also quite the bark and can be VERY vocal both in and outside the home. He is also discovering the world by chewing up lots of things around the house (anything he can get his mouth on, he's chewed). Record collection sleeves? Check. Box of tissues from coffee table? Check. Mattress in crate? Check. Foster mom's bathrobe that was accidentally hanging over side of crate, including dragging it through the crate wires? Check and check. Bernard needs a patient and experienced adopt who is willing to teach him good house manners :)
The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Kyndra at kyndras@luckydoganimalrescue.org
