Kirby came to Lucky Dog on 9/9 as part of an emergency evacuation from Jacksonville, Florida in advance of Hurricane Irma's arrival.  We are so grateful to all of the wonderful donors and volunteers who made this transport possible!  

Kirby is an extremely sweet 2 year old shepherd mix.  He loves, loves, loves to run and play.  He would be great with an active family who likes to hike, go on runs, or hang out at the dog park.  Kirby would do really well with another dog in the home -- or on his own too. So far, he has not met a person he doesn't like.  He particularly loves people who scratch his ears or rub his belly.  If you have treats to give, even better!!

Like most shelter dogs, Kirby may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

Update from foster: 

The first night has gone well. Kirby slept in the bedroom with my dogs, and slept through the night without issue. He is mostly housetrained, but has a few habits to break (jumping, counter surfing). He has a good amount of energy and would benefit from a yard or daily dog park trips to run if off. He has done okay on a leash, but would seriously benefit from basic obedience training to hone his leash skills (he is STRONG). Kirby likes to stay by his people!
