Well HAY, Howdy! My name is Hilda, and I'm a 10-month-old, 35-pound Labrador Retriever mix! I had been hanging out in San Antonio, Texas for the past couple of weeks, because Hurricane Harvey drove me clear out of Houston! But, that didn't bother me too much. It just gave me a better chance of finding a forever home of my very own--even if I've gotta travel across the country to do it! I enjoy sniffing, snuffling, and practicing my "puppy dog eyes" in hopes it will earn me extra treats and belly rubs!

I am a YOUNG girl, so you can be pretty darn sure I'm going to have a ton of energy. I can't wait to go for long walks, make some new friends at the dog parks, romp around in some Fall leaves (we don't really have Fall color where I'm from, so I'm sure looking forward to that), and maybe even learn to go on runs with you! On the other hand, once I get all kinds of tuckered out, I look forward to crashing on a nice, soft bed of my very own. Oh, man! That sounds super nice.

You may notice my fur is looking a little funky these days, but not to worry. I tested positive for Demodex, which is non-contagious, but I've been treated, and now I'm just waiting on my fur to grow all the way in--and then I'll be good as the day I was born!

I'm not sure how I'll do with cats or kids yet, but we can figure that out when I arrive. Additionally, I can't wait for you to sign me up for an obedience class, so I can learn all my basic commands and how to walk nicely on a leash... I will be the head of the class, for sure!

So how about it? Are you ready for a rootin'-tootin' cowgirl like me to come bouncing on in to your life? Fill out and submit an application for me today!

Like most shelter dogs, Hilda may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Liz K. at lizk@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
