Currently Living at: DC Boarding. Max needs a foster, or better yet FOREVER home!

Special adoption considerations: Max is a bit shy, but does warm up. We believe he would do best in a home with a 2nd dog to help him work on his braves.

Well, hello! My name's Max, and I'm a 2-year-old, 53-pound Shepherd mix. I just arrived in the DC area, all the way from St. Maarten--where I was rescued after Hurricane Irma! Talk about being a Lucky Dog!!

I am a young boy, so you can count on me needing long walks every day, maybe opportunities to run with you if I turn out to have that kind of energy, and frequent trips to the dog park so I can socialize with other dogs and learn HOW to dog even better! On the other hand, once I wear myself out? There isn't ANYONE who's a better snugglebug than me!

I'm a bit on the shy side, so until I get my bearings in my new homeland, I'd likely do best if you've already got a dog in your house. I'm not sure how I'd do with cats or kids yet, but we can certainly find out when I arrive! Additionally, I sure look forward to you signing me up for some obedience classes, so that I can learn all my commands and manners and show you what a good boy I can be!

Like most shelter dogs, Max may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.
