Hi DC peeps. My name is Alegro, which means glad in English. It is perfectly fitting because as much as I love my home of Puetro Rico, it is time we have to leave to find a safer place for me. I am looking forward to exploring the mainland with you, and seeing my first snow fall this year! It might take me some time to get use to the cold, but at 60lbs, I should be able to handle it okay. The nice people in the shelter think I am some type of lab mix, and I would have to agree with them. What do you think?

Like most shelter dogs, Alegro may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained. 

Update from foster:

He started out very shy but very curious. He is obsessed with my son - he follows him EVERYWHERE and whines when he leaves the house. But he is sooooo playful, and would be perfect with a yard/long walks/dog park. He gets along fine with our chihuahua, they don't even bother each other. He's a fast eater and slurpy drinker. He loves to cuddle and takes up the bed during nap time. He always just wants to be around us. He's a good boy, just needs a good place to run and jump around with someone.

He knows how to sit and go in his crate when it's time. He comes when called. He is learning to use the potty OUTSIDE (a couple of accidents but he learned quickly that potty is for outside).  Don't leave your socks around, he loves to slurp on them!
