Meet sweet Arena! This 1 year old Chihuahua mix, weighing in at approximately 10 lbs., found herself at a shelter through no fault of her own and is now in local DC area foster care and ready to come home.

Despite her rough past, Arena is very charming, loving and outgoing. As a young and energetic dog, she will need both mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis to keep her happy and healthy. An adopter who works full time would need to commit to having a midday dog walker for her during the week as with any dog. Arena would benefit from frequent trips to the dog park or even doggie daycare so she can socialize with her canine friends! And of course, upon returning home, she'd love to shower her new forever family with tons of kisses butt wiggles and cuddles!

Foster Mom's Notes:

  • She has tons of personality!  She just about prances into a room to see what you are doing.  Great attitude and temperament .
  • She is very loving.  Likes to cuddle up next to her people.
  • She is good with our other dog, plays nicely and is non-aggressive.
  • She is very bright.  We have one sofa that we don’t allow the dogs on to keep a safe space for the cat and she is catching on to that very quickly.

Although Arena loves people and gets along well with other dogs and cats, we haven't had a chance to see her interact with kids yet. If you have them, let us know, and we'll do our best to find out! She doesn't mind her foster sibling cat at all. Arena is also looking forward to attending obedience school to hone in her doggie manners and impress her new family.

Arena will make a great companion and family member; you won’t regret opening your heart and home to this sweet girl!

Like most shelter dogs, Arena may need a refresher on house-training. She is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sue at!
