Sweet, handsome boy needs a home!!!

MAXWELL NEEDS A FOSTER OR A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Special adoption considerations:  Maxwell would do best in a home with someone to keep him company - adopter must have a second dog, work from home or be committed to daycare! He needs to go to a home without kids under 12 years old.

FOSTER UPDATE:  Maxwell has really blossomed at his foster's home. He is a perfect house guest, and the other dogs love playing with Maxwell and having him sleep next to them. After a few days, Maxwell became a happy confident dog that loves meeting new people and dogs. Maxwell is very quiet, and rarely barks. His buddy Wendell is teaching him how to talk, but Maxwell has a very good inside voice when he makes noise. Maxwell is not a velcro dog and  won't follow you around the house or beg for food when you eat but enjoys belly rubs whenever your schedule allows. 

Meet Maxwell!  Maxwell is around 10-12 months old, weights around 65 lbs and a happy, super-sweet guy!  Although he was abandoned through no fault of his own, that doesn't seem to bother him and he has a very sweet, friendly, happy and lovely demeanor.   As you can see in his photos, he loves to give hugs and kisses!  

Maxwell is just a real sweetheart...he does very well around other dogs and has shared his small kennel with a few of them.  He's ready be your new best friend...he can't wait to get out of the shelter and start a new, better life with someone who loves him!        

Maxwell says...Hi there, everyone!  They call me Max, and they say that I'm just the cutest, sweetest, most loving pup EVER!!  Do you have room in your heart and home for a pup like me??  I have beautiful, shiny black fur that's super-soft…great for everyone to pet me (hint hint). :-)  I weigh about 65 pounds. They say I am probably some sort of lab mix…all I know is that I'm a happy pup and I love to play, get lots of pets, and give lots of doggie kisses!

Max says:  I don't know why, but somehow I ended up in this scary shelter.  It's dark and cold, and really loud in here.  I keep waiting for a nice person to come get me, but each time I see someone, they walk right by and I'm still by myself. :(   Luckily, the shelter staff say I am one of their favorites, but they hope that someone will step up and adopt me very SOON so I can get out of here and to safety in a loving home!   

Don't you think I would look really cute as your new Facebook cover photo, romping around in the sunshine and rolling in the grass or snow!?  And how I'd love to snuggle up by you after a long hike.  I just really want to run, play, then snuggle, nap and dream of all the adventures we'll have together.  I would just LOVE trips to the dog park and hikes in the woods -- I love to discover new things!  

Maxwell is an awesome dog and makes friends with everyone he meets!  At around 10-12 months old, he will need lots and lots of exercise to stay happy and healthy.

Maxwell's new person or family will need to make sure he gets lots of socialization and playtime with other dogs and people to keep up the good social skills he has already!  And like all dogs we adopt out, he'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with his people, and become a well behaved companion or family member.  Maxwell seems to like all the people he meets, and can't wait to wiggle his way into your heart and home.

Like most young dogs, Maxwell may need a refresher on her house training when he gets to a new home.  He will also need to go to obedience school so he can continue to be a well-socialized dog!
