Foster Home Feedback

11/6/19 Volunteer Feedback: Hobie is a riot!  I got to have Hobie as a houseguest while his foster was out of town for a few days.  He has such a huge personality and what a cuddler!  He really doesn’t know his size as he is sure that he is a lap dog.

He is such a considerate visitor and never got into anything he wasn’t supposed to – he does love to find the squeaker in a toy and take care of it for you though.  I even let him roam without a kennel for an hour or so and thanks to a camera I could see he just waited for me to get home; he didn’t even eat his treat until I got back!

WOW, can he move when he wants to, I was shocked to watch him go after a rabbit and almost catch it.  But really, when he is outside, he just LOVES to be outside.  I would watch him as he sat outside with his eyes closed and his head up towards the sun just letting the breeze come over him.  It was so serene, and he would do that for several minutes at a time – it reminded me of the last few minutes of CBS Sunday Morning that just shows a quiet nature setting.

Hobie is ready for his family to find him – he loves to love and really deserves a forever home.

9/28/19: "Henlo frens! Hobie here...still here...waiting for my perfect home! As the weather is cooling down, I'm loving going on extra long walks. There are so many smellz out there! Mom leaves the window open at home and I get chilly, so I snuggles close to her in bed (under the covers with my big head on a squishy pillow). I'm known for my incredible ability to snuggle.
Besides my snuggling, I do enjoy to be active. I still LUV training and my foster mom has been doing a great job at keeping my mind going. She made a mini agility course for me and I crushed it! I was jumping, weaving, and going through the tunnel. I would luv to keep up with that in my future home.

I still get nervous around other dogs and people, but luckily I am on a medication that helps with my anxiety. Don't let that scare you away, it iz a very inexpensive medication to make me feel more comfortable and confident. I've been meeting new people more often, and while I'm nervous at first, I slowly get more comfortable around them.

Have I mentioned before that I am extremely loyal? I luv my mom so much and like to be close to her whenever possible. On walks, I stop and give her a kiss or snuggle every once in a while to let her know that I luv her and make sure she is okay. I am a feeler; when my mom is sad, I do my best to lick up her tears and do something silly to let her know that everything is going to be okay. I luv my people so much. I'd luv to luv you if you'd let me!"

*NOTE FROM FOSTER*
Hobie has come so far since he came into the rescue. He is looking for that perfect special home that will continue training and help him get comfortable around new people. Sometimes, one is the best number, and Hobie would love to be the only pet in your life. Please consider adopting this lovable lug. Hobie has been in the rescue way too long.

8/20/19: Boy, oh boy, has this been a crazy summer! My foster mom has taken me on so many adventures! We went to Buffalo River State Park, went swimming (well my mom did, I was too scared), and spent time at a puppy-sitter's house! What a summer to be active and have fun! I've been with my foster mom for over a year now, and while I luvs her soooooooo much, I would really love more space and a yard to call home. I am a BIG boy and love to romp around and run freely. However, when we are outside, we must be outside together. I have little desire to be out there by myself. I is kinda a momma's boy.

I recently had a self-discovery moment! I don't like change...Not at all. Most pups don't like a lot of change, but I especially don't. I thrive on a routine and knowing what is going to happen. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a bit of spontaneity, but I'd prefer a household that likes a routine as much as I do. When in a routine and with my people, I really am an AMAZING pupper (not to toot my own horn or anything)! I am a sweet, active, young boy who has so much love to give. I just want a chance to prove how wonderful I truly am!

As summer comes to a close, please help me find my forever home!

     - Sincerely, Hobie, the silly and sweet Pit Bull, who wants to be your forever companion.

8/19/19 Volunteer Feedback: I had the opportunity to dog-sit Hobie for a few days and he is such a great houseguest. He really just wanted to curl up on the couch most days after a short game of … well, I wouldn’t call it "fetch," but I don’t know of a term that explains “running in the direction of a thrown ball and immediately get distracted so there won’t be retrieval of said ball.”

My backyard is fenced with dogs on all sides, and when Hobie would get excited about dogs on the other side of the fence, he would try to self-direct and come up to me or grab a toy. He didn’t want to get riled up.

Hobie can get overly excited and the puppy comes out, so he does need some patience to redirect him to chew on a toy or other distraction. But ultimately, he’s a big lug who is looking for a TV cuddle buddy!

6/13/19:  Howdy there, Hobie here! Wow, have I made so much progress! I’ve been able to look at dogs and walk by them without any reaction. I get nervous when dogs come too close, but luckily my foster mom is helping me build confidence.

Now that it is nice outside, I’ve been going on lots and lots and on lots of walks, and I love it! My foster mom likes to go really long and I get pooped! I love to exercise, but when we are out in the sun, I get exhausted!

Because I’m a really cool dude, I’ve started doing Talley obedience! I love to learn and will do anything for treats, so I thought this would be a cool way to exercise my brain and body! Woofda it’s fun!

My foster mom still can’t believe I’m not adopted yet! I have quirks, but I have so much love to give! Give me a chance...I promise I can win you over!

Foster Mom's note: There are some misconceptions about Hobie, so if you look at his profile, don't make assumptions. Yes, he needs to be the only pet, but that doesn't mean he can't be around other dogs, he just cannot live with them. Hobie deserves a home with unconditional love and can show him what love truly is. This is my plea, as Hobie's foster mom, to help find this guy a home. Help Hobie find his forever family.

4/22/19: Hobie is still looking for his forever home and I cannot believe it! He is loyal, loving,/ smart, and overall a kind-hearted guy. Hobie has grown so much and has mastered sit, down, shake on both paws, touch, and stay! He loves training and would love to find a home with someone who can continue helping him learn new things.

Hobie would thrive in a quiet household. He loves people but needs slow introductions to them. He gets anxious and just needs to be shown that people are okay. Hobie cannot live with other animals, but don’t let that scare you away! We go on regular walks and he sees other dogs and is just fine. If you have family over and they are bringing another dog, there are ways to make all parties comfortable. We have so many resources, so don’t let that stop you from considering his handsome dude.

Hobie wants to give YOU all of his attention. Sometimes one is the best number! Consider this boy to be a part of your family. He has so much love and loyalty to give.

3/13/19: Hobie continues to warm my heart in this cold weather. He is not so much a fan of the cold but has made the most of the warmer days by going on long walks prancing through the snow. Although he has been coped up quite a bit, he still has had a mellow mentality. Hobie has been attending weekly training sessions to brush up on his skills and even learn new things. He can now "Lay" on command, and has mastered "Touch" on both hands, and "Paw" with both paws! He is quite the smarty pants! Hobie is still looking for the perfect home who can provide him with a warm lap to snuggle on. Please consider this big lug! Hobie has captured my heart with his unending loyalty and love. You'd love him too!

1/1/19: Hobie has grown so much in his time in the rescue. He is becoming more confident and is learning to manage his impulse control issues. As a Pit Bull mix, Hobie is quite the baby in this cold weather. When we go for walks, he likes to have his sweater or winter jacket on, allowing for a more tolerable walk. Hobie continues to be a great snuggler. He loves nothing more than to sit on the couch, curled up in a cozy blanket next to his human, and watch people and their dogs walk by. He still barks at them every once in a while, but once redirected, he pays less attention. To enhance Hobie's profile, I decided to get some professional pictures taken. Hobie was quite the gentleman with the photographer and loved getting all of the attention. He loved being able to strike a pose and show off his signature smile. Hobie holds a special place in my heart and I know he deserves the best home possible. If you are patient, kind, have breed experience, and are looking for a loyal companion, please consider Hobie for adoption. He has been in the rescue for way too long and deserves a forever home. If you are interested in learning more about Hobie, please fill out an application. Hobie wishes you all a Happy New Year!      * Thank you to M.Schleif Photography for the updated photos of Hobie

10/21/18: Howdy friends! Hobie here still looking for my forever home! I’ve been with the rescue for about a year now and although they have been treating me really good, I would still like to find my forever home. My foster mom did a 6-week training class with me and I was one of the best dogs there! I learned (and am still working on) stay, touch, heal, and mat! I know, pretty advanced stuff! I’m remembering how much I don’t like the cold. There were a few days here in Fargo where I didn’t want to get out of my cozy bed to go potty, but I did what I had to. My foster mom says I am getting better being around dogs! There’s something I should clarify here: I like to see dogs, sniff them, walk with them, heck I really enjoy playing with them; I just don’t like living with them. I want to be able to come home, grab a bone, and snuggle up with my family. There’s only room for one hound right? Oh, did I mention? I LOVE to snuggle!! There is nothing better than an evening walk in the sunset followed by licking a peanut butter Kong on my dog bed as my foster Momma reads her book. I like the simple things in life...

Hobie has come a long way from when he first came into the rescue. He is healthier, smarter, and happier than ever before. Hobie deserves a home with a yard where he can play and run and burn some energy. He currently is being fostered in an apartment and is doing great! We see other dogs frequently and Hobie is nothing but a gentleman. (Please note that Hobie cannot live in a home with a tie out—he is fine in an apartment with adequate walks). Hobie is my first foster and I love him so much. He deserves the best home. Help find Hobie his forever home; you would be Hobie's Hero.

10/13/18: I  have had Hobie in my home for almost three months now and he has been a truly amazing companion. Spending every day with this love bug has allowed me to get to know his ins and outs and I am consistently awestruck that he has not been adopted yet. Hobie has been with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue for roughly a year now and there has not been a ton of interest in this sweet fella. Hobie is the sweetest, silliest, most people-oriented, and loving dog I have ever met. He just wants to be with his people.

8/8/18: So I have had quite the two weeks! I am settling into my foster home and am loving life! My days consist of walks, sleeping, and eating. I have been getting a lot better at walking on a leash. I get a little over excited when I see other dogs, but I just want to sniff them and maybe even play! One of my favorite things to do is sit out on my foster mom's balcony. She leaves the door open so I can go in and out as I please. I like to sit there and watch the people, cars, and dogs swiftly move past as the sun beats down on my back and the typical Fargo wind blows through my face.

Did I mention? I LOVE CAR RIDES! My foster mom and I took a trip to Buffalo River State Park. Something about the drive there was very therapeutic. The 45-minute drive consisted of me sleeping and sticking my head out the window letting my slobber grace the tail end of my foster mom's car. I loved going hiking! There were so many new smells and people to meet. We were only there for an hour before I couldn't take the heat any longer. My foster mom basically had to carry me to the car. I slept for three hours after that trip! I overheard my foster mom say that she would take me hiking again just to tire me out!

While I love spending time in my foster home, I know it is only temporary. I have been waiting for so long to have a home of my own. If you or anyone you know is looking for a sweet, affectionate, loyal, goofball, spunky pup like me, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE  to set up a meet!

7/22/18: Well hello there! My name is Hobie and I am one heck of a guy! I just got into my new foster home and I am LOVING IT! My foster mom lets me sleep with her, nap on the couch, and even sit on the patio in the nice weather! I have had a rough start as you can see from my previous feedback. I love being in my foster home, but am SOOOOOO ready to enter into my forever home!

To give you a little taste of what I am like, here is how my weekend has gone; My foster mom picked me up on Saturday and I was so excited to go for a car ride. There is something about sticking my head out the window and letting my drool fly (onto the cars behind me) that is simply exhilarating. I think I would really like traveling as long as we stop for periodic potty breaks. When I got to my new foster home, I immediately found my toys! Kongs and bones and stuffed animals, oh my! I knew my foster mom wanted to make me comfortable, so she graciously let me consume the bottom half of her bed. Oops...

Sundays are my FAVORITE! Sleeping in, sitting on the patio, and letting the wind blow in-between my ears, there is nothing better. While I do need to be the only pet in my forever home, I do enjoy watching dogs walk by when I am sitting on the patio. I don't bark but watch out of curiosity. They seem okay...but, only from afar.

I am a really chill dude, as long as I have a good stuffie toy and a lot of snuggle time, I am a happy camper. I'd love to meet you if you'd give me the chance!
