ROOSEVELT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME !!!!

Name: Roosevelt    Best Guess for Breed: Labrador Mix

Best Guess for Age: 3.5 yr. (a/o 8/21)          Sex: Male

Approximate Weight: 54 lbs

Gets Along With: Dogs and cats

Currently Living at: DC area boarding at https://www.ruffhousedaycamp.com.

Special Adoption Considerations:  Roosevelt gets a bit nervous around young children, and would do best in a home with kids over 15. Roosevelt has tested positive for heartworm and has been treated. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  Roosevelt has already completed his treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

Roosevelt is Looking For: A family that sees just how amazing he is! He's do best with someone who can take him to a fully fenced dog park to play with his buds & keep up his amazing socialization skills! He will need lots of walks/runs to get out all his energy -- you know what they say? A tired pup is a good pup! He will need a home committed to obedience training to keep up his great doggy manners and bond appropriately with his new family.

Like most shelter dogs, he may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Kristen at kristenn@luckydoganimalrescue.org.
