Special adoption considerations: Theo is a young puppy and will need someone who is home a lot to care for him, or someone who is able to hire a professional dog walker 2x plus a day until he is old enough for once a day. He will need to finish his vetting and be neutered at 6 months. This will be the adopter's responsibility and the rescue will require proof of completion. Young puppy, frequent potty breaks and socialization needed.

Hi, my name is Theo and I'm an approximately 8 week old, male, and approximately 6 pound, sheltie mix looking for my very own forever home. My siblings and I are really grateful that the nice people at Lucky Dog are giving us the chance to go to DC and find our special person or people. We really, really don't like the shelter. It's cold and noisy and we get really nervous. We try to be brave and help each other, but it's really hard.

I have heard a little about forever homes from some of the bigger dogs in the shelter. Sounds like a dream come true! Do you think you have some space in your home for a little bed, some fun toys, and maybe some yummy treats? I wouldn't take up too much room. I'll be very good, I promise. I am most looking forward to the cuddles, kisses and love!  I wish I could go to obedience school so I could learn some real doggie manners. I would try so hard and I bet I could be the best in the class! and love. 

I love playing with other dogs, especially my sisters, Trudie and Tootsie! I haven't met any cats or kids yet, but I'm willing to give it a try. I think I would really like to snuggle up on a couch for a nice nap. That sounds heavenly!

Theo is not old enough to have had all of his vaccines.  It will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time.  Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, he is at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.   

Due to his young age, Theo has not yet been neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 5/15/18.   

Like most puppies, Theo will need to work on his house-training. Theo will also need to go to obedience school so he can grow into a well-socialized dog!
